this is extremely frustrating,
you know after you post it give you the option to view your post or go back to the message board.
most people click on the new posts button right?
well i cant get the cursor up there fast enough before the page automatically reloads...EVEN ON 56K
man this sucks

My first suggestion is regarding the monitor. Normally when you go into full editing you will be opening a lot of windows and pallettes and it will tend to clutter up on your screen very easily. I suggest you get a larger CRT (21 inch would be appropriate) instead of a small LCD. CRT is relatively cheaper and the quality is better IMO.
Also, regarding Final Cut Pro: it is a very good Video editing software, not to mention very easy to learn, but the entire system with the Mac mini, USB mouse & keyboard + monitor could be a bit costly. I also find 40GB to be small for a full-pledged Video editing system. Although I'm Pro Macintosh also, I'd like to give a fair suggestion towards getting a faster P4 system and use Sony Vegas for basic editing, or Adobe Premier (with Adobe AfterEffects) for a more flexible (and more professional) tools. Just make sure you get a fast HDD (SCSI or UltraFast SATA). Yes, it will be cheaper, but I'm afraid you might have to do a bit of tinkering before you get the PC system to work.

ok cool, i might get a larger crt, but they take up sooo much room and my desk is relatively small, i could also pay a little more and get a 17 or 19 inch lcd...i dunno ill have to shop around.
the reason i want to get a mac is because i can get final cut pro at a VERY discounted price from the producer of the last movie i was in so that saves me 900 odd dollars.
i can also upgrade to 80gb for just 80 bucks more so i might.
ummm i can get a USB mouse and keyboard for $30 so thats not an issue.
i was thinkin about gettin a I book but they ended up being over 2000 dollars with the upgrades i needed.
i could also get a 1.45ghz mac mini for $980 but i would be adding $400+ onto that (not including monitor). so i think this is my best option.

With all the discounts you're getting, I think it is a wise buy after all. 80GB is better and 17 inch monitor is cool enough as long as you get the good quality LCD, sharp and accurate colors. Good luck!
