Why exactly cant you do an online firmware upgrade?

I saw you said you cant sync with the PC apps, but can you connect to the PC?

Basically, the software is there, but my PC can't see my phone on the cradle connected via. USB.

And if it can't see it then it can't exchange data. Be that contacts, calendar notes or upgrades.

I had a similiar problem, even after loading software from accompanying CD,phone would not be connected to PC.
Reason for this was that Norton Anti virus on my laptop would not let phone to be connected.
I suggest that you try and re load accompanying software, but after first disabling any anti virus or fireballs which you have on your PC.
I hope it helps.

i can only comment on my experience with SE support.

my phone locked up once, all of a sudden. it pretended to have been violated by too many network-unlock-tries.

the repair shop i went to (recommended by SE) told me they couldn't do anything because i did something illegal.
which i didn't.
plus, my warranty ran out a week before.

so i called up SE, they got in touch with the repair center, told them to unlock my phone and do it for free.

it took a while, mostly because of christmas holidays and the repair center's lack of enthousiasm, but i got my phone back in working order and it was covered by warranty.

great service.
