Actually, that's more like a hardware problem, since you say you dropped it a few times. In my case I don't even *receive* the calls. It's like the phone isn't on the network at all, all incoming calls are being diverted to the voicemail box.
However, when the calls do come through, I have absolutely no problems with them. Sound is crystal clear and no worries there.
The only times I had issues with party not hearing me, or me not hearing party was when the GSM notwork was overloaded and (if I recall correctly) the handset-cell pair had difficulties allocating communication channels. Mind you, that (normally) happens in 2 cases - 1). when the party picks up the phone and 2). when the phone hopps cells, so the entire comm channel has to be re-negotiated with the new channel.
I could be entirely wrong here - but hey - I'm happy to stand corrected by any GSM guru lurking in the shadows around here.
