Ahem.. The Nation is spelled "hungAry"... anyway i think there may be no actual answer to that GRY question...And EastCoastStar's post is the right solution...

@Oogamous
was that answered clearly? i just used a calculator to be sure..
-> forget the initial $30 charge
-> they paid $25 in the end (figuring in the $5 discount).
-> divided by three customers they each paid $8.33
-> $8.33(333) multiplied by three is $25
-> each customer kept $1 from the $5 discount
-> and the extra $2 went to the waiter
the trick, i guess, is in the wording by starting with "each guy pays 10..."
edit: oops! i missed that niranjan007 answered this already!

if you look at original puzzle like this its simple.
they pay £25 pounds between 3
which means 8.3333333333333333 each, add a pound onto that you get 9.33333333333333333
times by 3 you get 28
add 2 to the waiter and ur there

@all... thanks. i got that.. well it's just that different solutions with different ways of calculating the total amount to be 30 all seem logical. yet in the original puzzle the wordings seem flawless and very logical and somehow the more i read the original puzzle i seem to think that the calculation leading to 29 isn't flawed at all.

To the 1st riddle, 'language' doesn't end with 'gry' . . . The closest I guess would be the word - 'agree' , though spelled differently!
