Windows Messenger imo is generally a bad idea, i've seen it cause problems on a few PCs!

Windows messenger is a leave over from the DOS and early windows days. It was originally used as the netsend command from the DOS promt, then in Windows 3.1 -> 98 they slapped a WinPopup GUI over the top.
This is what administrators still use to do system wide warning messages, which is why its still in windows. Recently some people have figured out how to use it internet wide, ands It's becoming a rather annoying form of spam.
Sweet app that I found about 1 1/2 years ago to get rid of the problem :=

P.S if anyone is in a school with a really dull network Admin go to the DOS prompt and type something like:
'netsend * "Big Brother is Watching You"' without the single quotes. I did not just tell you that.

its also a great way to IM your buddies at work where no IM software or email is. As long as you know each others machine names.
