I've got a set of "Lets Learn Hiriganana" Cards, as well as their Katakana equivalents, but I can't find them . They are just easy ways to remember the characters, like "Ka" is "Ka going off a cliff" and "Su" is "Soon It will be spring" and "He" is an arrow pointing to "Heaven" (looks a bit like "^" )

I can already speak some Japanese and have learnt about 75% of the alphabet. I can count in Japanese no problem. The hardest thing for me to do was to find someone to practice with.

I have a Japanese penpal (email pal) to help me which is handy.

when I started learning Japanese, the first sentence I memorized was
Anata wa totemo Kawaii desu.
(had to say it a million times to my girlfriend )

Most common sentence I use now is
Hara he ta
(i'm very hungry)
