@dannyoneill: not really true actually, there was a virus who exploited a security hole of Office Outlook: open a mail and auto install of the virus whitout you knowing of it and whitout touching the attached files.

There is also the phpbb worm wo deface phpbb forums using a exploit just by making searches on google.

Of course it's fixed now but the phpbb community suffered from this and I'm sure it's not the last of those 'smart virus' and someday such viruses might show up in our phones.

@jim: you're talking about PC's that have operating systems that have more holes than a pam and tommy lee video as opposed to smart phones which imo are a little more secure because of the needed steps to do anything on.

I've yet to see anything beamed to my p series that installs automatically and runs without me knowing. Hell it usually has too many confirmation steps to begin with.

I don't doubt they may come along sometime in the future, but that will also come down to the operating systems, front ends and how manufacturers make their phones.

With safe usage there should be no reason that anyone using an gets a virus.

A virus cant install iteself. On the PC its becasue Outlook autatically launches it to try and be 'helpful'. Once infected it can make your pc do whatever it wants.
