> Formatting drive C: ?
Bookmark topic
To the average user it may appear that a Master Reset has indeed put it back to being like new and it will have removed all apps and user accounts and pictures, ringtones etc BUT it does not properly erase the C:\ drive.
This drive will accumulate rubbish from installed apps and general use. These are not removed by uninstalling or MR but will be removed by Formatting.
Therefore Formatting truely returns the C:\ to it's original state.
Master Reset only makes the phone look like it's in the original state but the C:\ drive will still be cluttered with lots of junk files

for that true 'fresh from the box' smell you should format and then do a firmware upgrade. Then it installs the demo app and also all the default sounds and movies. For me a format is what I want, gets rid of the SE junk that way

I always do the format then enter all my user accounts and settings etc then do a Backup.
Then I have a backup on the comp which is fresh but still has all my setup done then any time in the future I need to do a format I can easily restore the settings etc without having to do it manually

Well it works perfectly and you don't need to mess with anything. Attach the phone got to restore, chose a backup to restore and off it goes

@dannyoneill
Most of the problems I've ever had restoring backups have been caused by AppForge. Avoid it like the plague, and you should be fine!

Ah, AppForge Booster.....
THE worst thing ever made for the P-Series. I agree avoid it and not just to aid backups, just avoid it all together
