I can easily tell which has the better quality.

There is so much more crispness in the 2nd pictures

Example picture 1 1st

Example picture 1 2nd

Example picture 2 1st

Example picture 2 2nd

If you compare example picture 2 to the first and second, you see the white thing in the corner. Theres a massive difference there.

I guess ccd is gonna be much better, but too long to wait for.

That is off course if ccd is the 2nd picture.

that is just bs my friend...better, yes, never much better

just compare s700 ccd with k750 cmos...

But what about battery consumption on the CCD? It will be worst than CMOS.

As seen on the Jaymarts page, the 2nd image shown for each scene is CMOS, and to my eyes the CMOS one looks better.

Quick summary of CCD and CMOS-

CCD/CMOS are simply sensors which turns light into electrons. The difference is that these two sensors process the electrons in a different way. With any digital camera CCD sensors are better, however CMOS sensors have their own advantages and are also becoming more advanced...

Visit these howstuffworks pages for a more in depth comparison between the two...

Not entirely true. Many SLR:s cameras e.g. from Canon uses CMOS instead of CCD and produces better pictures. Its all about how they are manufactured.

Thats why i put 'however CMOS sensors have their own advantages and are also becoming more advanced... '

Quite, and vitally and what everyone seems to forget is the optics are very important too. You can have as many megapixels and you like but if the optics aren't up to scratch - which they aren't on any camera phone then the pictures will still be pretty rubbish.

I don't understand the fuss people are making over this - firstly the "thumbnail" pictures as posted are as useless as a chocolate fireguard in getting any idea as the the difference in quality there really is no discernable difference between any of them that can't be put down to background conditions at the time. Second without decent optics in the lens the sensor type is really going to make very little difference anyway.

To be honest I can't believe SE are changing the sensor type in an existing phone like rumoured - it makes no sense whatsoever unless they are sourcing the new CCD parts significantly cheaper (has to account for production costs too) than the current CMOS parts which IMO seems unlikely. Personally I think they are just using the K750i shell as a prototype for upcoming phones which will feature the new sensor.

hmmm if this K750 w CCD use the same optics....then the comparison between CCD and CMOS can ignore the performance of optics

to me the current CMOS chip is very good.....especially for me who seldom use resolution over 1.2megapixel.

Too bad my testing of the device (CMOS version) is over....not stuck with my old T610....very sad....and I have regret to borrow it for one day.
