I too have a DonShine USB IrDa adapter. It works fine on win2Kpro on my desktop using FMA but bombs out on my laptop when I try phone->pc transfers. I have no clue why that would be. There are no settings that can be adjusted.

You can definitely adjust properties for BF120 because I have one of those.
Some low cost adapters do not allow adjustments, in which case, you'll have to get the latest driver from the manufacturer or get another brand, like Bafo BF-120 or MA-6??, that sort of thing..
I am surprised the MA-660 does not have something adjustable. I don't have this device myself so I can't tell you where exactly to change.

Perhaps stick with using the "File Manager" on the MA-660 CD

Hi,
I've a donshine usb irda dongle and have the same problem on my desktop running Win2k Professional.
The PC can send file to the SE K500i but not the other way.
The donshine doesn't have any settings to tweak at all.

yeah iv'e solved the problem...bought a gigabyte bluetooth dongle for 25 euros .. and i would strongly recommend anyone NOT TO BUY ANY TYPE OF IR! it sucks!
if you dont have any extra cash for bluetooth dont go buying nuttin!!
BT is much faster, it has a killer range, more reliable and much more functional than IR!
and i can control my PC with the phone.
Thanks to all of you who tried!!!
DONT BUY IR!!!

Well, two things, first you need to be very close and lined up I mean really close 0.5cm. Second the IR port is pretty slow to wake up, so it might take two times until it recognizes the connection.

The file can be transfered from K700i to PC if you change IrDA data rate to 9600.
control panel > wireless link > hardware, high light infrared adapter > properties > advanced > value > 9600 > OK
