I've got the problem too, it's hardly that apparent though. Very visible when using this background, which has a solid brown background but appears with stripes.

I have the vertical stripes too when in light colour background but no darker bottom, after I have my phone upgraded FW R2A the vertical stripes was gone, now I have a very nice color display, just don't know how the FW able to control the LCD color, try upgrade your phone to FW R2A see it can solve your problem or not.

That's right, with R1B/R1C when playing snake game the vertical stripes will appear bcoz it have the light colour background. But all this was gone after I upgraded to R2A.
