The top-selling PC games do come out for the Mac usually, eventually... but not for many months after the PC versions... so if getting cutting edge games is what you want then maybe a Mac isn't for you, unless you've got an X-box or PS2 as well.
VirtualPC is useless for games and pretty slow for everything else. It's really no substitute for a real PC.
But for everything else, a Mac can't be beaten...

@Vanquish
Yes, it is a generalisation but it's roughly correct! I'm not saying that macs are ONLY for serious stuff and that PCs are ONLY for fun stuff but it is true that, for example, games are generally released for PC first whilst major updates to 'professional' software are released for mac first, simply becuase macs are still used more for professional applications such as in the graphic design and printing insustry.
Even though Apple are finaly begining to aim macs more at home users than they did before, they're still not quite there yet IMHO, so I would simply advise people that if you expect a mac to completely replace a PC in every aspect, you might be little disappointed.
Sure, most general computer users probably could replace their PC with a mac but I still maintain that if you like your games, I'd keep hold of your PC as well.
Put it this way, I've got a PC, a mac and a Linux box and wouldn't dream of getting rid of any of them because they're all good at doing different things. Until such time as one computer can do everything equally well, I'm going to have to keep hold of all three!

Oh...thanks for that information.
@cyco
I see where you're coming from, but if one can afford a mac, one can afford an xbox 360 too

@vanquish
lol I suppose they could
It's a difficult choice to make but if it was me, I'd stick with a PC for now and wait to see what impact the move over to Intel chips has on macs. Hopefully, they'll be quite a bit cheaper in the future.

Guys:
I'm definitely going to get an iMac now, 'cos I'm not going to be gaming very much, and will be doing work and processing photos more than doing any gaming at all really. (I got a PSP if I really want to game!)
So, do you think I should get one in about two months, or wait for the Intel chips to come out, 'cos they've been showcased, and they look pretty amazing, and they ran halo on two iMacs, one with Intel and one with a PowerPC chip, and the intel one was noticably faster and cooler at the end of the test. The other option would be to wait until just before the launch of the intel chips and buy in the expected sale prices to try and get rid of them before they bring out the intel chipped iMacs?
So, what do you think I should do? I'm really not sure, but I know that my laptop can last another year with ease, or until the intel chips are launched?
Whats your opinion guys?

Yeah, if you can live with your laptop for another year then I'd hang on and see if there's a price drop.
