samsung phones are still terrible when compaired to brands like nokia, se or siemens.

design is personal so i can understand that some people like the new SE phones.

they do indicate some small clues to the next Pxxx like quadband and 256MB internal memory.

when looking at the new acc. i must say that the headset is the best designed one i've seen from SE. their new bt carkit on the other hand is very nice and finally a good competitor against nokia's bt carkit.

I think liking designs is a matter of taste. SE does want to move up in its market share and I don't think replacing Siemens at no4 or 5 is the answer. To be a big manufacturer you need to cover more categories. SE so far has been doing pretty well with most of its line up being in the higher end but it does need to look the lower end market too. I think the main reason of dissapointment is because of all the high end phones that were rumored and didn't get presented. A fact is just because they didn't get presenteddoesn't mean their canceled, its just that we'll have to wait a little more to know what they are. It seems SE likes to keep their announcements somewhat catagorised although they don't strictly keep it that way. SE also has never announced a smartphone this early in the year, I'm not saying I totaly agree but then its not our company nor our necks out there so I think they know what they're doing. And S600 has EDGE, I can't gurantee every phone yet to be announced from SE will have it but it seems phone are most likely to have either triband+EDGE, triband+3G or quadband. SE is improving I think its just we don't think SE is improving fast enough.

Eh I like the new releases, s4 pretty much replied to everything rightly though.

It's funny how for the most everyone sees the japanese designed SE phones and goes nuts over what they have. They try to introduce those features in their non Japense phones and people start crying and whining.

The only thing I really REALLY want in a phone now is an LCD remote like on cd players etc, if that came out for the W800 then i'd be totally happy.

Its fine to hate the phones because the design doesn't appeal, but imo you have to like the fact that at least they keep adding tech that will appear in future release phones. Quad Band, Stereo Speakers, EDGE, etc. (Before anyone jumps on that i'm not saying they invented it either, just they finally started incorporating it into their handsets )

Why cry about EDGE when 3G is faster?

I don't get it. If you don't like the phone, don't start a thread and cry about it. Just don't buy the friggin phone.

Quote:IMHO, SE is getting worse in their mobile phone market..

Very true but not for the reasons you stated.

Quote:1. Products are not well designed, take K600, S600 and W600 as examples. The S series r declined to Japan designs..Those SO series.

I agree with you in this point, the new handsets are not as flashy and attractive as the S700, T610 etc. Although Japanese handsets are very flashy, the mix isn't as attractive to me, not sure about the rest of you.

Quote:2. Announced new products in a not very systematic time intervals (Announced the S600, W600 after the K750 is being announced; Holding the W800 market which is no difference with K750). Lack of marketing strategies!

Actually they release at key quarters where the market is usually at a high. Also releasing two similar products at different times is known as product differentiation which maximizes sales in various ways.

A) Instead of having 100 K750i's sold, they reduce that to 75, the 25 who dont buy a K750i are likely to buy a W800 because they're holding out, and 25 existing K750i users may also buy the W800. Also the new release date attracts new potential customers who werent prepared to buy the K750i so thats another 25.

So instead of 100, you get 75+75.

B) Releasing similar phones is a marketing technique that nokia uses. Releasing similar phones in different categories (Differentiated by marketing skills) increases sales because stupid consumers (Theres a sucker born every minute) think the W800 is better although it is almost identical to the K750i, and it makes it seem that SE have a larger product variety.

Quote:3. SE ignores the EDGE technology. I don't know why they always overlook EDGE which will not hurt by having it in their phones.

Z500, S710a, Phones with edge are released to the american market as they dont have 3G, SE choose to ignore EDGE in the european market for some reason, but it is not much of a set back.

Quote:4. No news about the Smartphone series - PXXX... Dead?

They usually release Pxxx phones yearly, and the only reason we hear about them sooner is due to the leakages and rumors. But clearly from the W600 and S600 they've been able to keep the products under wraps.

Also every Px00 usually follows a K or formerly T series phone, due to the release of similar K and W phones, the P will most likely come after both, as the P design is usually similar to that of the K.

T68i -> P800
K700-> P910 similar Keypad etc.

So get stronger points and I'll agree with you.

They stopped their CDMA production a long time ago. I would guess because of profitability, something they were trying to achieve no?

Maybe its also an operator thing, as we've seen Vodafone and T-mobile have obviously gone after them for operator specific handsets, why shouldn't CDMA ones chase them too?

Wouldn't the biggest CDMA market left be the US? Where as people (and friends I speak to there) have attested they pretty much just go for a phone that calls people rather than all the additional features? might sell alot , but then again they might not there either.
