He didn't try to discuss the matter clearly before doing what he did.
He defended that man who was a criminal but killed 20 men who were also criminals... does that make sense? nope.

actually they did pose a threat to him. the way i understood that scene was that if he didn't kill the farmer they would kill him - hence the "please bruce, there is no other way".
btw - batman begins does not relate to the tim burton/joel schumacher batman films. they are separate franchises.
the other aspect i really liked was how all the gadgets were based on real or at least plausible "science" rather than the almost pure science fiction fluff a lot of comic book films resort to.

confirmation of a sequel for Batman Begins, but this time no Katie Homes because WB are miffed at the publicity she and Tom are taking away from the film.
incidentally, there's also a rumour that Mark Hamill (aka Luke Skywalker) is in the running to play the Joker!

When they said there was no other way, its in my opinion that they were saying that there is no other way for him to join and that killing the criminal is the only solution.
If he doesn't want to kill bad guys, why didn't he try to run first?
Why didn't he try an alternative before killing them.
Basically at the end of the day, he contradicted himself.

@amnesia: i got both messages from that scene. "the only way to serve justice is to join us, the only way join us is to kill him, and if you don't kill him we will kill you". i don't think he actually set out to kill all of them anyway, just fight his way into a position so he could escape.
@Gigs: i didn't know that until yesterday, but now i do i reckon that would be great. other rumoured contenders include Paul Bettany and Crispin Glover.
