Can somebody please confirm if this is the case or not but surely SE are using the SE Firmware updates as just another chance to cash in!

Don't get me wrong I love my phone, but if you buy a new K750i for example - experience any of the problems previously listed and need to update the Firmware, do you then need to buy a data cable of some sort to do this?

I ask because I remember paying almost £20 for a DSS-25 cradle to update my K700i firmware. Why should I though when it's their problem and bugs etc............don't get me started on ipod's either!!!!

I'm aware of service centers and other outlets that may provide this service but often this is inconvenient.

No SE aren't using it to cash in...all of the update services so far have used the Supplied USB cable

SE is either skipping its testing or has made release date promises it can't keep and is releasing substandard product code

Not the first time....K700 and S700 were both buggy but the 750 has suffered more than most and i hope its not a sign of things to come...

@bulti48 - I doubt it, because the K750i comes packaged with a data cable. Maybe they fore-saw this happening ... I dont know.

I feel its unfair that those people with working phones are being so flippant about the whole situation.

I just dont see how it can be a small percentage of phones when so many people are complaining about the same issues. Some people even having to exchange their phones multiple times.

I'm on my second now which is charging up as we speak, and I really hope this one is ok as so far I am impressed with the phone. But if this one turns out to have the same freezing problem, then its no more than an expensive paper weight.

i think they give you a cable more for the pc conection i think but makes you think if they are just passing the buck a bit instead of them solving a problem they get you to do it a bit cheap of them i think if thats the case siemens have done it for a number of years now long before se did it but i cant remember them having as many problems as se the problem i thnk for them is they keep tyring to be on the market first they should think about all their problems before they release their phones

First I would like to state for the record that I do reckognize the problems people are having, I do reckognize the bugs and the annoyment from them, and I do think it would be better if there werent any.

But, I also do think people are being a litle unfair.

Its absolutely common for all new advanced mobiles being released nowadays to have some initial bugs that needs 2-3 firmwares to fix, and when all the nokia/siemens/samsung/whatever loving S//E haters visit this thread to give their amount of bashing, they all completely overlook the fact that the same thing is happening for all other manufacturers.

I could start listing models from other manfacturers and their number of bugs and firmwarereleases, like Samsung D500, Nokia 6230/6230i, Siemens S65 etc etc etc, but ill spare you for now.

Development today goes fast, Competition today are so strong and marketingstrategies are so important that there are simply not time anymore to spend months and months on qualitytesting before release. This goes for all manufactures, S//E are no exception, neither in a good way or in a bad way. If they dont release in time, the buyers will go elsewhere.

Atleast S//E are doing alot to help customers unlike many other manufacturers, by adding free online update, include updatecables, creating new firmwares relatively fast etc.

The point Im trying to make, is that allthough its annoying, everyone should by now be aware of this fact and act accordingly. By this I mean, if you are not willing to live with initial bugs and wait for the first firmwares to come out and fix them, then simply wait a few months before buying the phones.

But no, everybody wants their toys sooner than the next guy, everybody screams and yells in the forums before release to hurry up and release the phones, cause they cant wait anylonger for them.

Also why go through the hassle of exchanging your phone several times, hoping the next one will be slightly better, getting a litle bit more annoyed each time, when all of them use the same firmware and more or less all errors are caused by and fixable through firmware.

Whats the point in watchgroups this and that, they wont change anything, the only thing that will change anything are the habbits of the buyers. If you absolutely cannot live with a few initial bugs, and you dont have the patience to wait for firmwareupdates while having the phone in the beginning. Then theres a very simple cure to all these problems, simply dont buy the phones untill its been on the market a few months and initial bugs have been fixed. Customers not buying the product are the only way to force manufacturers to spend the time on qualitytesting before release.

Endless whining in thread after thread after thread doesnt make any difference.

And neither does all the nonsense from those stating that only S//E have these problems.

Agreed that they shouldn't have released the model that hurry

But, as its already happen and even we (consumers) in a bit hurry to grab as it just launched. should be in deed to wait as they said they r in process of settling up the issues with new software..

So lets be positive and wait for next 10 to 20 days ...

I just dont get how people think that just because they are discussing problems with a product they have bought, that they are "SE Bashing" or whining that their "toys dont work".

1) it is not a toy
2) if you pay for something, there should be no reason why it doesnt do what it says on the tin
3) if anybody reads any of my posts, I have always stated how much I like the phone and am very happy with it WHEN IT WORKS.

Sure I think some people are being a bit extreme. But the more people put up with dodgy products, the more it will happen.

And to say that companies have no choice because of competition and the state of the market etc is a bit silly too.

If you sell people dodgy gear, they will just end up going else where anyway, which is even worse than if the company took a little longer to iron out the problems before release.

And for the record, I didnt come on here to bitch or moan ... just to say how much - as a regular nokia user - I like this new phone, but to simply say that I too was having problems. Mainly in the hope that somebody may have known a solution to my problem.

Got some good points there people.

End of the day - if you buy a car and the brakes suddenly stop working - your gonna get hurt - and that manufacturer is gonna get sued up to there eyeballs.

If I buy a phone and talking to my largest client and it freezes - I just lose a 50k contract... what no recourse?

It's not on whatever you say or however much you'd like to justify it. If it doesn't work as advertised - its misleading and surely you can expect compensation?

Anyway that's my 10p's worth... I'm off for a week now - and can't take my phone abroad because it freezes every 30 seconds, and I can't swap it becasue it's next day delivery and I'm off at 06:15.

Uncontactable in a foreign country - just what I wanted when I bought this buggy collection of microchips and plastic.

I wasnt refering to you or anyone else specifically, and your absolutely right, people should not accept poor products. The point was exactly, dont be in such a hurry, dont buy the products unless you are willing to accept these problems in the beginning. Because the fact of it is, that most electronic products released today have poorer qualitytesting than before, and it wont get any better untill customers stop buying products that have not been through enough qualitytesting. But it is a fact that people do, people are impatient to get these products, people are pushing on the manufacturers to release them quickly and to release more models, and competition are tougher than ever before. Products today are also alot more advanced than before and therefore the risk of bugs are higher, theres alot more that can go wrong.

I dont understand why it allways comes as a hughe surprise that there are initial bugs everytime a new model is launched, most people here have had more than one phone, most people here have experienced bugs on these phones, regardles of brand, and yet everybody rush to get the latest and greatest, and "everybody" are truly surprised when the latest and greates have some bugs that needs to be fixed.

Im not trying to defend S//E, Im only trying to point out, that we can choose to be the first to get the latest and greatest and accept these initial bugs, or we can choose to not buy the product untill we are sure there are no bugs left. If most customers allways chose the latter, you would in time see a more dedicated qualitytesting from manufacturers. Its our behaviour as customers that dictates the market. Problem is we customers generally dont act as we preach, myself included.

I fully and 100% honestly do understand and agree on your griefs about the misfunctioning of the phone and also the possible consequences.

However one could perhaps say that if one were in a position negotiating hughe financial contracts, one should not let the outcome rely on simple electronics that we know from experience are prudent to fail when we least want them to, atleast not without some kind of recovery/disasterplan (perhaps just a backupphone)
