I was going to suggest a blackberry too but having used one for a while, I don't think emailing is significantly faster than on a P910.
I suppose a very high-end PPC might fit your needs although you're always going to have the input method system problem. Frankly, if you think that the P910's keypad is a joke, you're unlikely to get another device that's smaller than the P910 with a decent keyboard.
So I reckon it's still got to be a Blackberry really.
