Just a quick message here, in case anyone still reads this thread:
On MOST mobiles, you can't access the Internet/MMS & EMAIL because the over-complicated internal phone settings get in the way. Some work fine once O2 has sent the special texts with all the settings, but many dont! I specialise in the SYMBIAN type phones, & very few work as they are. O2 havent got a clue on ANY of these subjects! Their staff are employed to help you if your problem is (for example) which way up do I hold the phone-and can it go scuba-diving
On my GENIE contract, ive had 100% free Internet access on my PC thru my mobile since 2002! but they changed the settings & now it doesnt work (till I find the NEW settings - ha !)

There is much confusion about the O2 tariffs (as mentioned above), generally because there is the O2 standard tariffs (as you get in a high street store), O2 ONLINE tariffs (which are MUCH better & totally different), also there is the contract versions, and the 'special - free' O2 SIM cards, & finally, there is GENIE (who dont exist anymore) who also had PAYasYOUgo & CONTRACT tariffs (AAARRRGGGHHH!).

On my very old (2001) GENIE contract SIM, I still get 600 free txts, UNLIMITED WAP & Internet, an hours FREE calls (2p-pm after that), BUT no GPRS & no MMS. O2 say its the SIM that cant do that, but thats only because they wont update the system to handle it for me/us.
How do I know that? cos it works if I use a different networks settings, but charges nearly £1 per MMS (and the settings are VERY complicated, its just tricking it into working).

For anybody who wants it all to work, use O2 ONLINE (NEVER use the SHOPS!) and get the £20 per month contract, with ANY series 60 mobile (6630/6680 type recommended for now). That works, and these mobiles are capable of EVERYTHING now. You get 500 FREE txts, WAP/Internet and GPRS/MMS.

I will drop back in again occasionally to see if any contact appears here.

Oh, I forgot to mention these bits, oops:

GPRS/MMS do work on GENIE, but NOT on the CONTRACT version, just the PAY&GO SIMs. GENIE realised they had been too generous at the time, and withdrew it off the easily-manipulated CONTRACT SIMs. The REALLY old GENIE SIMS have 300 free txts a month (then it txts you to say TOP UP, which is a bit of a trick as the next free txts only start at the start of the NEXT month anyway!), you get totally free 915000 WAP access ( I use NETFRONT for this), and £10 calling credit. MMS is 25p per message.

Also, any of this can change at any time, & O2 have been messing with various setups for the past 12 months. If/when I get time, I will post the new 915000 PC settings here.

I have been on O2/Cellnet for 10yrs - and ditched their rolling contract in favour of PAYG, over 2yrs ago, as their service is shit and nobody in the call centres has a clue!

Anyways, I upgraded to K750i last week (upgraded to W800i firmware) and have been playing around with the settings. I tried to get on to the internet via WAP to test the phone - which surprisingly worked. However, the charges seem to be 10p per call/minute? - I am not sure at the moment. I have also tried the gmail setup - which did not work! I can receive MMS fine - have not tried sending one yet.

I would be grateful - if anyone can tell me how the GPRS works on O2, as the website is not very informative.

I went the O2 site and chose the '02 Active' option - which sent me a text message with all the relevant details are stored as 'Internet Profiles' i.e. 02 WAP GPRS & 02 MMS. Which was quite easy - I remember having some trouble with the Nokia series 60 before...

If you get no joy - post another reply and I will put the settings from profiles.
