> How to disconnect camera in P900/P910

Why not buy a phone that doesn't have a camera in it and use that? OK, it's a pain swapping sim cards (unless you can copy the sim and have to copies of the same number/sim), but it avoids mutilating your P900/910!

The point is, I bought my P900 as a business phone, not as a gamer's phone! I want easy contacts and calendar management in the phone. Quick text entry (thus needing a QWERTY/Z keyboard or a touchscreen) is essential as well. What I don't need at all is a camera. Digital cameras are small and cheap those days as well (Casio Exilim EX-S500 is as small as the P900) so you can put that into your other pocket if you want to take photos. If you're on a business trip to a company, you don't want to take photos.
I find it amazing that people don't see this.
At least the new Windows phones (HP iPAQ hw6510 or HTC 110) are spotting this market potential. As much as I love my UIQ phone, but if SE does not recognise this they will lose customers.

And what security guard from which company do you think lets you get through? After all, you could go online, download and install it again.
It's nice that so many people want to help, but please accept the fact, there is no other way than to physically remove the camera (or not have a camera at all in the first place). Security guards are not stupid.

There is a Nokia phone that is a biz model that does not have a camera inside. It is as good as the P910 and has EDGE, and other features. Problem solved. To continue on and on is not going to get the camera removed. If you haven't been to SE to ask them about the problem, you are not serious about getting your issue resolved. Something of this nature would have to start with them, not a forum about phones.

For the Treo there exists a company that professionally removes the camera and closes the gap in the phone case. I was wondering whether something like that existed for the SonyEricsson P phones as well. I thought it might be worth a try raising this issue here. It was not, lesson learnt.

Security guards are not stupid. To permanently disable the camera, just break the lens from outside with a pointed device, then cover the hole with some glue that solidifies and can't be removed. If you are careful, nothing will get broken except the camera's "eye". Then explain and show the security guys what you did, plus demonstrate that the CommuniCorder application can't take meaningful pictures at all. If they are indeed not stupid, this should do it.

Good idea but they might want to see a hole without a camera. You never know. Once again, I would start with SE before breaking anything or getting out the epoxy.

Why not get an Tamper Evident Sticker put over the outside part of the camera that has a serial number on it. This way if you remove it in your workplace, you will be held responsible and have to face the consequences. This also gives you the option to use the camera at a later stage.
All that security has to do, is check your phone on entering and exiting the building to see if the the sticker is intact.
Many a company uses this method for sealing items that are a security risk and taken into buildings.
Hope this helps
