Ok, now the first signs of using a not right quality for the phone.
the LOCK KEY on the side is now starting to stay where it is pushed , I mean when you pull it then it will not come back.
How can anyone believe this , how SE is using such BAD QUALITY.
Believe it or not but I am thinking for a W950 or W850 if I can find one before anybody else. Wish for me all the best.

Regardless of the sticking lock switch I really can't believe just how poor the finish looks on the P990 in those photos aafshari posted.
The edge on the screen bezel looks like the paint is bubbling or scuffed and and the joins between the rest of the pieces look awful.
My M600i looks light years ahead in terms of build quality anf finish than that. This is not what I'd expect from a £500 phone.
celltech - is the finish on yours this bad?

Aafshari,
As an alternative how about a qwerty-keyboard shortcut key to get the the same goal.
Also I'd like to know how often you used the lock key? was ur p990i arrived with an open box? This is pertinant to your situation. and for our perpective of 'quality'. even though urs is a production run, i"m thinking yours was used for testing of tolerances since its among the first off the production line. If I'm correct then this 'lack of quality' is expected since your device "MAY" have already lived its full warranty life and showing the signs of wear.
Pls all consider this carefully; SE has NEVER let us down with any product release as bad as Motorola or Nokia have.

@aafshari maybe you got a prototype that has been tested already, you know what huge sites and companies do to test prototypes, they bang it in every way they can, they shake, they use it continuosly, all this just to say :"Battery life is good, althogh not as much as we wanted. We tried to open the flip by shaking the phone really hard, but it didn't open......"
So you probably get my point

I wonder if the person who had it was actualy entitled to sell it? no wonder it cost the poor fella so much money, personaly I think it will be quite a while before we get to see nearly bug free Europe spec phones on sale in the UK anyone buying a sim free variant now is in my humble opinion buying a very expensive pup.

Hi Prom1
re your quote of
"Pls all consider this carefully; SE has NEVER let us down with any product release as bad as Motorola or Nokia have. "

Yes I'm serious.
Moto: V600 with the top of the flip cracking or breaking under normal soft repetitive (sometimes under 50 flips) openings. dont you remember? how about the V635 press release -original- stating class 10 edge then chip supplier (supposedly) issues causing the re-released announcement of class 6 endge. How about the poor firmware issues on the MPX-220 and the WHOLE original 2 shipments for public of that model to be free of charge shipping & receive BOTH was from customers to Motorola in the USA-Cingular for new firmware. Lets not forget the deals and promises of the MPx (MPx-300 for you Euro peeps); that never fully shipped in quantity and was EOL (end of life) when it did ship. Or the PEBL supposed to have EDGE but again the chip supplier. Need I go on? (i'm not complaining about their repair policy which is good, just their quality of shipping products and issues of EOL half-shipping products).
> As for the Nokia, deals in the USA for the 6620 it had issues on AT&T before Cingular merger. 3230 just sucked all around useless buttons above numeric keypad. The long to be fulfilled promise of the S60+S90 merger was due back in January 06. The flop of original annoucement on the N80 being 6 bands (quadband gsm/gprs/edge + 1900Mhz/2100Mhz WCDMA for both US/Europe in 1 model not two) and the inconsistency's of changing both the N series pages in Europe & in North America. Dont get me started on the E62 announcement of Wifi still there like the E61 yet Cingular stating there is NO WiFi. Need I go on?
All is public knowledge.

the fact that other manufacturers have had issues in terms of build quality and have been releasing bug-crippled phones doesn't necessarilly mean that SE is entirely devoid of such problems...My S700i had severe magnetic shielding issues causing it to reboot if too near of a power supply. I don't even need to mention the first batches of M600i which were simply unusable due to beta firmware.

Hi Prom1,
maybe you have failed to notice the P990i being released Q2 NOT, the number of K800's dyeing whilst under a week old, the lack of BB connect on M600i and i have lost count of the number of firmware upgrades on this particular model since launch. Those are just the problems that seem most prominent just now and is why i no longer rush to buy any phone/ smartphone when first released. I never said other manufacturers where any better as IMO they all release units that should still be in Beta testing and get people to pay them top prices to be their testers IMO it's outrageous but as long as everyone keeps giving them their money there is no way they are going to stop. They just won't get my money for a work in progress and until people stop accepting the current trend it won't change.
