had once fantastic support, seems this phrase in asia is unknown, no wonder, with their "toy and copycat" plastic gizmos, its easier to throw it away and get another one instead of repair...
this reflects in se policy aswell imo, sell sg and let it as it is. fake and empty promises, thats all. they should be happy, that sy goes for their uiq, which is definately a joke atm, even an outdated wm5 is better and more userfriendly. now many of us took p990, gave se a chance, but again, se wanted to come up sg new, and instead of put p990 for a higher level, they offered p1i. the flip could have been a "trademark" for se smartfones, the former p series was very beloved at users since p800, but such a crap maketing and p990 misery can ruin sg after years. anger is a bad advicer, but i do feel for those, who was waiting at least for a correct answer form se. say minimum : sorry, thats it guys...
ps those members and users here, who are p series, especially p990 fans, should manage and plan p990 etc fones ( just take a look at the photoshop thread ), instead of the asian se "brains", who dared to spam in sweden ( kista, lund ) wherever, instead to continue their job on the ricefields outside tokyo or wherever they come from...

@Bobafett
Yeah
Maybe what SE should have done is follow Apple example by giving discount vouchers to P990 buyers to alleviate the pain.
That was alluded to in the Open Letter. Which, despite being addressed to the new CEO in the most cordial terms possible, he has chosen not to answer.
In fact, all of the good solutions aired in this thread were in the Open Letter.
Which I suspect will get no meaningful response at all, apart from perhaps a string of vacuous sugar coated phrases culled from the SE corporate mission statement handbook.

@max_wedge, I agree with what you are saying.
The P990 definitely has QC issues, the last one I have (3rd replacement) is very stable and apart from the RAM handicap has no problems whatsoever.
For those who may not have followed the events, most P990 owners were struggling along with their problems and trying to help SE fix the problems just like loyal customers would. What changed things was SE's decision to abandon fw development and blatantly claim that the P990 had no problems. Add to this the fact that every time SE came up with new fw they also introduced a few bugs, people started loosing faith and that is when the outrage started. I believe that basically the P990 hardware is a good design (except for the RAM of course) and Symbian is more suited to mobile use than WM. I do not agree that other manufacturers had better smartphones, the P900/910 was something they were all looking up to. Starting off with such a brilliant legacy and ending up here with the P990 is something that is really hard to achieve which SE needs to look into and correct if they want to stay in business.
All this did not need to happen only if SE had adopted a policy of communicating with their customers instead of adopting the arrogant don't care attitude.

@Boba
Yeah maybe but really Mode and i rarely agree on anything and clash more often than not so the idea that Mode is a supporter or Fan of mine is just so funny.
If i was Mode i would also of found that suggestion ridiculous and worthy of poking fun at as Bambino just continues to show just how biased and unrealistic his agenda is.

Yes,i believe that....also,i faintly remember some insider saying that SE engineers and software developers can iron out the problems of the P990 with better firmwares but the SE management were against it as this process involved the devoting their time and resources on fixing the P990 than spend that on the future UIQ products like P1 and others in development.
Also,like u @makbil,i too advice people against P series.My close friends and family(and even complete strangers at work and social networking sites) who ask me about my phone go with a very negative impression about SE after they hear my story.My line "This phone sometimes gets shut down for no reason during a call" has drove away more than 25-30 prospective SE(P,K and W series) customers to the nokia. If i don't get a satisfying answer from SE,this will be my last SE ever.

Its funny that the guy who started all this so quietly ran away. Yes I'm pointing at you mizzle! I think you over estimated your abilities to get a worthwhile answer, or better, ANY answer from the president.

Paid $900 to learn one thing from P990i, “SE never values their customer’s money”.
I don’t understand when somebody complain about some companies or products, why some other people become angry? Is there anything that we the normal users don’t get from them secretly?

Luckily, it wasn't $990 for the P990I
Seriously though,:se: screwed me properly with the P990 and I have not bought anything from them since. I believe that plenty of those on here who are saying that people should forget about what happened are persons who just get their phones on contract so that it does not affect them as much if any.

For those who ask us to forget this,how does it feel to get cheated of your money?Have you ever been cheated off so much money?Unless you have owned this phone from the launch days,and used it,you shouldn't ask us to forget this.
Just a while ago,i was listening to a song.I thought of getting some info on the song,so opened the Opera mini(main browser would have never opened or closed the music application) and as expected the Opera mini opened on 2nd attempt.Once the google page was loaded,the music running in the background shut off.There was no other application running.This is so typical.
I bought this phone not to use as a business phone,but to mainly surf the internet in the large touch screen while listening to music and also to take good pictures with its 2mpx cam(k750 quality).These were the only reasons i paid 755$ for this phone.This phone fails miserably at both these functions and se know this and did nothing.
So why should i trust se with another phone?X1/p next promises so many things..but will it function 100% as advertised?I am very sure 'NO'..when it fails,I bet 'someone' will say that se are new with wm/uiq4 or something,so it happened..you should have used your brain.
