Nokia and SE have its fair share when it comes to these innovations in design and features and we the end user benefited from these.However who comes first doesnt mean is the winner in the long run since there is the other who is going to innovate that \"first feature\" many folds.It is a non stop cycle.
WHAT ABOUT PATENTS?PATENTED DESIGN OR TECHNOLOGY.who is leading who?NOKIA OR ERICSSON/SE?

After holding a 8210 for about 2 years, t68i is my 2nd long ownership regarding mob phones. Bought it in late May 2002 and I'm glad I did it 'cause it's a damm good phone!
Switched to 'cause a 8310 I had f***ed up my SIMcard when I was copying the contacts to the memory... I was a
Nokia fan (shame on me!
) and from then on, I've been cursing Nokia for all time being!
Still considered switching to Siemens, but no coloured phones were available at that time, so got myself this beauty and am I glad with!
P800 is the only option I'm considering now, but still dunno if I need one

Well, actually I was talking about the real technologies, not exchangable covers and so on. And also I wasn't talking about who got it first, but what they have now.
What Nokia have, SE don't:
- E-commerce, ie. wallet like technology
- Sophisticated Digital Rights Management
- Sophisticated content download
- Camcorder, ie. video recording
What SE have, Nokia don't:
- EMS, on the other hand Nokia have Smart Messaging
At least these came into my mind.

Now i miss the radio, yes "carry a seperate one", "cheap gimmick", etc. well aren't you all well healed tech heads, listening to the radio was another perfect way to pass the time like snakes was. The reason nokia has such a large market is because they make products that suit the larger demographic. This forum is full of tech heads, IT managers, power users, like myself who get the most out of a phone, who love bluetooth.
Knocking nokia for making mass market phones is just childish. whats the point of having all those toys if you never play with them. the majority of people posting here use those toys. My friends barely use everything on there nokias so what the hell do they want BT or even a voice recorded for? i try to educate them, but they'll never want such features, they'll eventually get to grips with mms cos it'll work, but they've never used wap. The fact is thou, they buy logo's and ringtones to refresh the look of there phone and cheap overpriced bits of plastic once the covers worn or dated looking, hence more money for the operators, so they'll push nokias more to there customers...
Since my t68i nice and new it's not something i miss getting a new cover, but i've had to re-organise my pockets so my phone won't get too worn, its a consideration i don't like to make. it's repeated with the joystick, how long do they last?
Also my nokia did fcuk up but the service centre fixed it for free (nice) but couldn't be arsed to save my numbers thou(not so nice).

Those area will not be known by us because it is regarding how the phone communicate with mobile network.
This was always stated in Ericsson press release.
The best rumour I heard a bout speciality of E/// phone compare to others is tht when our phone was idle for certain time (sleep mode)....E/// or Se phone is actually partially connected to the network to reduce the power consumption???( He said tht's the reason most E/// phone have long stand by) but the downside is that we didn't have a good reception in certain area....sound very logical but I never get a confirmation, since I am more interested in mechanical thing
The thing i remember best if using 4 line grey scale....I remember till now not all Nokia phone (without colour) is using this and the implementation of EL-Foil (name could be wrong) as the way to have backlight is not found in Nokia phoen as well...the latter which is found in R520, T28 and T39 really give a comfortable LCD screen to the user, no more visible light source. E/// T39 and R520 also are the first to get syncML certified. If R520's motion sensor is not found in other phone, then it could be the first phone to have those....so far my memory tell me its the first (anyone can confirm tht?)
BTW Sony Ericsson is just using their patent(e///) to develope their phone.

@orange, first of all, those "features" were not invented by Nokia. Nokia has had NO contributions to the technology of mobile phone whatsoever. All they do is use existing technology, and most of the time, obsolete technology.
Ericsson has pioneered most GSM based (if not radio based) technologies, cuz that's what they do. Nokia made plastic boots up until 1992 I think.
Ericsson was one of the first to standardize tri-bad chips in their GSM phones, they pioneered & co-developed Li-Pol batteries which Nokia still has discover. /// also invented Bluetooth. They also had the unified accessory connector long before Nokia did. They were the first GSM phone with a camera attachment. They also pioneered a lot of the standards used in current 2/2.5 and 3G technologies, specifically the radio transmitters used in the phones base stations. SE is one of the first to successfully have a dual-mode GSM/3G celfone. /// also was one of the first to release (and also co-developed) GPRS systems.
Nokia did nothing to push the industry forward. Like I said in a previous post... Nokia phones are decent. The ONLY reason I don't like Nokia is not cuz of the products they make, but because of the company behind them. I don't support the practice of 'suckering' the consumer into buying old technology at a higher price. If Nokia slashed all their prices by at LEAST 50%, I'd feel like they weren't fooling the public as much...but hey, business is business right? And since there's one born every minute, why not take advantage of them right? Well, Nokia does. I for one, still believe in good business ethics. Make a GOOD product at a FAIR price... but hey, that's me.

All the latest nokia phones lack voice functions calling cards and the screen is much smaller. Stay away from nokia. You will also have problems with downloading from other sites.

Well im not sure if nokia/SE would allow microsoft to have a small share in the pie especialy SE for its technology.I do hope SE uses other OS other than microsoft in the future.Why?Look what microsoft did to sendo and their smartphone z100.Would nokia ane Se allow that to happen to them?I dont think so.
