I don't think Sony can entice many buyers if Note 7 because they don't have phablets high end in their portfolio . I believe that most Note buyers are looking for large sized phones which Sony doesn't have . I think Apple might benefit massively with the 7plus being available in 2 weeks

I just read that Carphone Warwhosuse will only start selling Note again on 21 of October 😱. I think this is quite bad and surely this will affect the sales . Also Samsung Australia said "3-4 weeks". Not good for Samsung

In the grand scheme of things I doubt if it will affect SAMSUNG in the long run. I mean think about it..all major players have had some issues like this. Apple had the maps, antenna and the bending issue. Such things happens these days. Also, its not like there are any products that can replace N7. If HTC or LG can fill that void then yes, Samsung needs to play catch up.

[Poll] Will you replace, exchange or get a refund for your Galaxy Note 7?

... the end result of that Poll above was a pleasant surprise.

cheers!

True...the other brands have had issues as well.

But when Apple had those issues... they stuck with it and did not do a recall. Remember when they were sued repeatedly because of 'antennagate'? They did not do a recall but released phone bumpers instead. When the iphone was having bending issues... they spent millions on a PR campaign to 'discredit' the news, even saying that it was only 9 phones that was affected. Even today... when the iphone 6 and 6s are experiencing 'touch screen' disease (links below), they are downplaying it again. All through out all those issues... including battery problems, they didn't do a recall.

I think Samsung will pay heavily for this... but in the end, I also think people are mature enough to forgive them.

cheers!

(off topic, sorry...) Here's the links bout the "disease" I mentioned above:

This Note should be the best Samsung device ever.
Sadly, there's a recurring problem in all giant companies.
The "Let's sell it as soon as possible! Why do more safety testing? People don't care about it! They want the new thing no matter what!"...
Samsung will learn by the hard way before being reckless again.

Having a phone explode is a billion times worse than anything Apple has had issues with. Just imagine if someone's house burns down or it explodes on charge when you're driving God forbid. Sure Samsung will bounce back but its reckless that such a mistake can be made. People will soon realise that its down to a couple of Homer Simpsons doing the QC because no company would take such a risk.

I also think exploding battery is worse than what Apple had- I actually read a story that a battery of a note 7 exploded in a hotel room and the damages were 1800 AUD! To be fair Samsung has already confirmed they will cover the amount

I also hope Samsung will recover well and soon - I actually want a Note 7 (after I read that the issues are in the past )

Huawei and Xiaomi have a better chance of taking advantage of this and being successful than Sony or Htc, both dying brands, Sony don't have a high end phablet, just that 6inch X thingy with some mid end Snapdragon SoC and HTC don't have phablets at all.

Apple may be the only one who will truly benefit.

Galaxy Note 7 will no longer use Samsung SDI batteries, claims report
http://www.zdnet.com/article/[....]g-sdi-batteries-claims-report/

Following reports of Galaxy Note 7 batteries exploding, Samsung has decided that the best way to deal with the problem is to issue a recall. Now a report claims that the defective batteries were manufactured by a Samsung affiliate, called Samsung SDI.

"'As a follow-up of the battery issue, we decided to temporarily stop using Samsung SDI's battery for Galaxy Note 7,' several local media outlets reported on Monday, citing sources from Samsung Electronics," reports the Korean Herald.

cheers!
