semantics psychomantis! Everytime an OEM brings out a phone that is uncomparable, you have two days before another manufacturer brings out a new uncomparable phone.

No OEM is so good that their handsets are always ahead of all the competition.

SE consistantly bring out feature packed ergonomically brilliant handsets that on average do more bang for buck than all other OEMs. This does not make them the market leader, because people don't only by phones because they are the best, they also buy them for their own personal sense of style and useability.

I personally like the SE minimalist styling.

SE is not market leader in terms of Marketshare. But they are a leading force in the industry, in that they often set the benchmarks that other OEMs have to catch up to.

Yeah, true!

The RAZR is basically no different to a V600, and a clamshell too, despite it's thinness. (I find clamshells are too inconvenient).

No IR, no video recording, no radio, stuff all memory. Listed in MXP mag for over AU $1000! You'd have to be insane to fork out a grand for that thing!

question... what happened to ericsson's market share? did the figure get merged into SE? if not is it considered other?

SE subsumed Ericsson's market, isn't it obvious. That doesn't mean that nothing has changed though, and SE market share hasn't gone backwards relative to ericsson, so what's your point?

SE (and Ericsson) have always had a market lead in technology.

Nokia is not an innovative manufacturer. They have reliable handsets yes, but rely on having such a vast array of basic phones that there is something for everyone, trouble is you need 5 Nokias just to get the features you get in one SE phone. (okay I'm exaggerating but my point holds)

They appear innovative because of the interesting form factors they produce, but this is a very limited approach to innovation, aimed at saturating the mass market It's just a marketing ploy (but one that works obviously). I'd rather SE's technical innovation over Nokia's style innovations.

However, I have to agree that if SE was to take the No 1 MARKET SHARE position they would need to do a lot of work to beat Nokia.

But just because a company sells the most phones, doesn't make them "global leader in mobile phone solutions". SE always seem to jump the gun on other OEMs when it comes to technical innovation. The current phones are still achieving that benchmark: Music phone (that can be used when the phone is turned off), Memory capacity, auto focus camera, and other examples.

I am never surprised with new Nokias. They are just phones, but SE new phones are always exciting and bring new features to the market.

haha, yes it's true.
They are good value for money though, so I don't begrudge the expenditure.

I always seem to keep my Ericsson and SE phones for a long time, not just because they reliable, but because they come out so feature packed, it's a long time before you start looking at newer phones longingly.
