This is very little but a catalogue of individual's experiences, where everyone's an expert.

I have owned, used and sold thousands of handsets (admittedly I haven't owned thousands, but it's my job) and my experience does not seem to match that of all you haters!

Various manufacturers make various handsets which develop various generic faults - sometimes there are anomalies with individuals' handsets, as is obvious with consumer electronics where millions are sold each year.

Now, we should all know this, and we are all free to make our own decisions and, as members of a forum, you might expect a fair bit of bias. Actually, there is a lot of reasoned argument and the over-simplified opinionated garbage, tends to come from those who visit just to childishly provoke.

I have one question to those of you to whom this applies:

What's the point?

We've had the debate, established our differences of opinion. Don't hide behind the fact that this is a reasonable debate. God knows how many times this has been discussed before in various guises. The only reason the likes of mib keep bringing it up again and again (I remember the original conversation when you didn't seem to comprehend that scotsboyuk was making a compelling argument that you chose to ignore) is because you are trying to provoke argument.

So do us a favour and don't play hard done by - if you want to have silly arguments, there will always be people for you to argue with, but ask yourself why you don't have anything better to do...?

I would not say bad call quality, reception or battery life is a general SE issue. Sure some SE models may have such problems (the perceived issue varies alot depending on where you live, network coverage, usage pattern etc.). But all manufacturers have some models tat are not particulary good in certain areas.

There is however no statistics available claiming SE in general is worse than any other manufacturer in these areas.

SE phones in general have done a poor job with internal antennas. This HAS been proven and hence poor reception on SE handsets ni general. I can't remember the references but you coulf first, go to http://www.mobileburn.com and ask the bloke and also check his reviews as well. SE are terrible with reception along with Samsung according to his research. Some ppl here have also pointed it out.

SE also are the worst offenders for bloated battery life claims. You really reckon P900 can do 480 hours in standby and 16 hours in talk time? This is one example and the same goes for other phones. They are just ridiculous claims by any standards.

K700i was one of the worst cliaming 300 hours in standardby and 9 hours in talktime. That was jsut impossible and not even half of that can be achieved. In fact at mimum ppl have to charge their phones after 1 day.

Im not saying that it needs to be sport on but not even half of what they quote can be achieved.

bit harsh given the amount of thread on the k700 battery life on esato alone. i dont think its unfair or untrue to say that se does exaggarte its battery life figures.
i am sure all manufactors do as people are less likely to by a phone if they have to charge it every day

Yes it is harsh. I agree slattery. Lets flame

No, only joking. I see your points ganguly! But theyve only been around three years and their phones are just getting noticed in the past 6 months!

i dont think the length of time theyve been a company should matter in the case of battery life. both companies made phones with batterys prior to the merge.
it aint hard to work out you know a phone (like your pc) needs power to run and it needs a certain amount so you match the power supply to suit it
you would nt put a 300w psu on a pc and expect it to run dual graphics card a cpu 4 fans etc.

Is one manufacturers claims on battery life really any more exaggerated than anothers? Does the battery technology they use vary that wildly? C'mon. Doesn't battery life also depend on usage and screen size?

yes battery life does depend on the things youve mentioned but it aint hard to work out that if the device demands more power then you need to use a big battery.
its not just aint at se (though i do think they are gulity) as i think most manufactors are as bad, but when you make a claim your device can do 300 hours in stand by and it struggles to do half then i think people can complan.
i wont expect it to do 300 hours in the same way i would expect my car to do the mpg that the comapny claim
however i would expect it to be somewhere near.

You want references. Go to mobileburn.com. Nearly every phone has been tested, and see the results yourself.

I don't think the length of time matters. They have been in the market for a while now and even before both sony and ericsson made batteries.

Ok, enough on the negative side of things about SE batteries. If we look at one positves at SE, thats the K700i reception.

This was a huge major improvement and SE worked hard on the inernal antennas on K700i and no longer was the phone giving lots of fluctuations in reception like most other SE do every time you touch or move the phone. This was rectified and many reviews felt that SE finally managed to rectify their long term problems, but guess what?

SE introduce S700i and they went back to old ways again. i.e. reception problems again. That was a real shame as everyone thought SE had rectified its problems but no, they went back to old ways again. So, here we see that SE still havent quite learnt their lessons.

Oh and references, check out K700i and S700 review on mobileburn.com, which basically goes in more detail about the point i've just made.
