BigBen 2.0 will come out in Q1 2006, with many new features and improvements, including those requested above. Further suggestions are welcome.

Excellent. Thanks!

You asked for it! Here are some ideas (in decreasing order of preference):

1. 'Pocket' setting (from pop-up menu) that does not release lock when a call comes in (must unlock manually before answering, or answering limited to hotkey). I use P910 with flip removed and sometimes screen gets pressed in my pocket and answers a call without me knowing!
2. When a reminder is active: Display of last caller/sms sender name. Also, quick access to call list/sms inbox from pop-up menu.
3. Display of next upcoming alarm time, or built-in alarm with big snooze button function
4. Dual time option for use when travelling
5. Quick-access countdown timer (using the big digital display), for timing my roasts/eggs!
6. New variations of time display, such as:
- something like this
- a globe, centred on home location with day/night shading
- supersize and/or landscape oriented digital clock
- moon phases or mentrual cycle indicators (I wouldn't want these, but some may find it useful)
7. Seasonal themed messages/animations (eg. Christmas, 5thNov/4thJuly fireworks, birthday)

(Of course, it is important that a 'resident' prog such as bigben should be kept quite small and not resource-hungry, so I wouldn't expect too many additions!)

Hope that's useful.

Thanks very much for the impressive list of ideas above. Some will probably be included.

Did you see that you have a competitor for this app now? (I won't link here, but you can find it easily enough in this forum).

I must say it looks fairly good, but I'm sticking with bigben for now. Especially if updates keep coming....

Magic Screen is a fine program indeed, and its producers are probably the best OS hackers in the Symbian/UIQ arena (hats off!). Competition is good for users, and yes, updates for BigBen will keep coming.

So, haven't heard anything on bigben for a while (this thread was on page 14!), any news?

Or is most of the work currently aimed at getting a UIQ3 version ready for the P990 release?

Cheers

A new major version of BigBen is being developed for UIQ 2. As you guessed, we are also busy with the UIQ 3 transition. Any release will be announced here.

It's coming, already running on some test phones, and planned to be released in January.
