how does the P990 handle the BlackBerry protocol?
This is something crucial for me, it is cool to have mail pushed to your mobile over 3G, but Blackberry phones are pretty awful UI-wise, a P990 with the same auto-push functionality for email would be a killer for me
P910 had something with Blackberry, although I never investigated it deeply since it was rumoured not to work OK...
So, anything in the manual about it?

Wow reading this forum just got me scared, i just ordered mine from an unkown supplier at half the normal price. All the signs of a scam but I was wiling to take the risk since the reseller left me something as collateral to prove that the phone would arrive. He is also giving me one week warranty to test the unit. So im going to test the battery cover easily sliding off, the keypad lock key getting stuck, and the paint on the side peeling off... anything else I should check? Oh yeah, the Quickshare or P990i logo and where it is located. Im getting my unit today or tomorrow, will post asap.

Hi Prom1,
maybe you have failed to notice the P990i being released Q2 NOT, the number of K800's dyeing whilst under a week old, the lack of BB connect on M600i and i have lost count of the number of firmware upgrades on this particular model since launch. Those are just the problems that seem most prominent just now and is why i no longer rush to buy any phone/ smartphone when first released. I never said other manufacturers where any better as IMO they all release units that should still be in Beta testing and get people to pay them top prices to be their testers IMO it's outrageous but as long as everyone keeps giving them their money there is no way they are going to stop. They just won't get my money for a work in progress and until people stop accepting the current trend it won't change.

Yes I've failed to notice these NEW phone issues.
1) the M600 was NEVER promised to have BlackBerry connect when FIRST announced; it was when the first update of apps announced - test apps -by SE that the P990i would ship with no the MS DuoPro card, THEN they announced that BB Connect support would be available for the M600 not "ON" the M600 > You didnt notice this and thus you'll need to wait for that. Remember it'll be a SOFTWARE implementation not much different than the Nokia E61 has - a software PIN. However I believe that the M600 was RUSHED out the door 1 month too early, as well as the K800. I have no interest in either phone, but from what Masseur has posted his M600 is doing alright. Consumers being beta testers and paying their first born on a production unit = I totally agree is outrageous; I just dont see SE making a history of issues like Moto or Nokia have with pre w810i models.
@dirkies, the P990i has BB Connect Built-In or I "believe" that it does from what I can assertain from the press release "ORIGINAL" and there after. It will be FULLY supported by BES server 4.0/4.1 & BIS 2.0. So Service Books & such will be updated OTA, or WHIPE or PIN-PIN messages or BES Administrative support. Question you should be worried about is if your on a BES right now, and moving from a RIM BB unit will your BES Admin/Admin Team Support NON RIM origin devices??!??

P990 is really worth to wait for it eventhough the battery cover is coming off and the key lock is stuck but when you see the keyboard you will forget about everything

I wonder if a program will be made that allows you to manually turn on the flashlight for video recording or just to use as a torch. Does anyone know if that would even be possible?
