I am really annoyed that despite O2 touting the phone for release at the same time as Vodafone (Mid-September) they have been pipped by Orange. O2 CS keep discussing the software and compatiability etc., I read that Orange have really butchered the P990i, I wonder what O2 are doing and what impact it will have. Why not just release it sim free?
It looks like a lot are still waiting for O2 to sort their act out, sadly I am one of them. 10 days before I get my phone at the earliest but to me that is 10 days too long now!!!

O2 are still saying that week commencing 23 October is a provisional release date and could slip back a little further. Is there anyone from within O2 around who can help us?
Also seeing what Orange have done to the phone, can anyone shed light on what O2 might have done. In the past they have been very good, but yo never know!!!

CPW in Cambridge has 2 990i's in store now . . . I'd have got one today if their upgrade price wasn't £90 more than O2 will charge me when the finally get them in. Fingers crossed for the 23rd then eh

I too visited O2 on Saturday 14 October and was informed from the stock list that it is still provisional for the 23rd October - but like the rest of you are very aware that this will probably change.
Perhaps O2 are being wise and waiting for a more stable firmware release before issuing the product. Otherwise they will only reap the grief of product returns and complaints, etc.
By the Way - what upgrade deals are O2 people getting? Ive been offered an upgrade for £199 based on a monthly tariff of £10/month (although I havent upgraded for 6 years, and am now getting really desparate!)

After more than 6 years, I was sick and tired of O2's endless delays and mindless customer service, I walked into Vodafone and talked to one of the staff. I told him honestly what plan I was on and how much O2 wanted me to pay to upgrade to the P990. I asked him I was considering leaving O2 and if he could come up with a better deal I would switch. He recommended a package which gives me a few more minutes and the same number of texts for slightly less than I am paying now, but here's the clintcher...the P990 is free.

though I would like it free, trust me I will try. Additionally the retention deal I have been offered is 12 month contract, 9 month upgrade, 1000 xnet mins, 200 sms, ITS, 3 month rollover of unused for just £35 per month. I have heard people getting upto 500 sms and in 1 case 1000 sms on the same deal, but I will be angling for a healthy data bolt-on if they have one by next week!!! If Voda could get anywhere near that they would have a new customer today!!!
