No its not illegal at all.
Personally I think national service should be re introduced. Kids today have no moral fibre or sense of community. It should be 18 months mandatory service after completing GCSEs and if the child does not wish to pursue higher education then that period is increased to 2 years.
There was a programme on BBC a few weeks ago called "The Poles Are Coming". It was about the influx of immigrents ect......now im not ging drift too much of topic but there was one scene where a bunch of kids were offered the chance to work for the same salary they were initially looking for aswell as plenty of hours. It was farming for butternut fruit or something similar. Anyway not a single one of the kids seemed in the least bit interested in that sort of labour. Most said "id rather sign on that do that".
The kids of today have it too easy and the sad thing is the government havent gota clue how to deal wth it becasue they are too pinned down by being PC. I hate to think where this country will be when these kids become the middle generation.
Oh yeah and loudspeakers should be banned from phones!!!! Theres nothing more I hate than a friggin asbo kid with his phone on full volume.

Well, it's OK as long as mild smacking is allowed, isn't it?
Talk about Big Brother...

I don't know about national service for ALL, but I do think that if you drop out before GCSE's then 2 years national service, if you stay on and do A-Levels thats reduced to 12 months and if you go to Uni, you don't have national service. The government will be happy because they'll be more Uni educated kids and more kids going into the forces to help out.

A little smack on the back of the legs never did me any harm when i was little. My parents were never nasty but i never did bad things again when my dad did that. I say yes put kids in the Army these days and they will see what being hard is some would not hack it. And i detest these youngsters playing their phones loud forcing us to listen to rubbish tuneless boring rap and rnb. Yawn. Drivers on busses never do anything about these troublesome kids for fear of getting attacked. What type of world is this becoming when kids think its ok to stab or kill someone just for asking them to calm down. Ok god i thought i was finished with this thread but i keep coming back for more.

Sean, all your fault for starting the thread
In reality, a little smack can do wonders.
Saves you making the same mistakes again.

Finally some sense is being spoken here, for a couple of pages it was a load of 14-18 year olds talking about how they aren't spoilt and have had phones since they were 10...
But i completely agree, the old smack on the childs bottom will teach them where they have gone wrong. I had my fair share and i think it at least instilled a sense of right and wrong.
As for the army again something else which i think will do the country some good.
Get the GCSE qualified individuals into the army provide some more forces and hopefully this should also limit the asbo culture as well as increase the educated workforce in Britain.
My only concern is (i doubt this will happen) but what if those being sent to the army actually emerge more violent than before. In either case today's youth does need some sorting out.
Funny thing is i believe that many of these problems actually stem from the poor morals forced onto the child when they were young. I think if more families adopted the morals and values our parents had the country probably wouldn't be in such a sorry state.
For instance i saw a little girl couldn't have been more than 12 with who i assume was her mum. Now this girl was wearing a mini skirt, some t-shirt with a slogan i wouldn't be happy if an 18 year old was wearing, had those huge gold ear hoop earings and it dawned on me if you can come out the house with your mum looking like that will it be of any surprise when you come home pregnant before the age of 16?
The mother obviously couldn't give a rats ass about the situation, and if she did but she couldn't control her 12 year old (which is most likely what is the case with many kids these days) well we are indeed living in a sorry state of affairs where 12 year olds hold power over their parents.

Although that may make some kids study harder overall it will give a distorted view of our armed forces and before long it would known as just a drop outs boot camp. Everyone could benefit from national service not just the young offenders.
As far as smacking goes, a smack at an early age can make the child aware that what they have done is wrong or bad. If the child has a sense of right and wrong instilled in him then they wont need smacks that often but if the parenting is of a low level then its just a cycle fo nothing. Often the parents are as much to blame if not more than the kids themselves.
