erm... maybe someone already covered this, but...
i have a p900 and a powerbook.
most of the time they communicate quite easily with each other using bluetooth, stuff like file transfer, isync, salling clicker, etc...
however, for some reason it doesn't seem to work with addres book. i can't make calls or texts by clicking on a contact.
is this a common problem, or am i just being stupid?

All new Macs now come installed with Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) as standard. In fact, many of the latest Macs won't even boot into Mac OS 9.

Apple have just updated the eMac line, starting at just £549 for a 1.25Ghz G4, 17" Screen, ATI Radeon 9200 graphics, three USB 2.0 ports and two USB 1.1 ports, 2 FireWire 400 ports, 56k Modem. Bargain!

hi nur_light,

about the lack of dialing from the address book, its the way that the symbian system works. rather than a standard phone the p series dont support AT commands very well (or i got the wrong end of the stick) Basically it means that its harder to control the phone from an external device. This is also why salling clicker will display who's calling if you connect a t68 etc but it wont/cant display the name of the caller when you connect a p series phone.

i posted a change to the address book on a previous post in this thread and im still working on a way of getting dialling out to work, just havnt quite got it right yet

Apparently its also possible to answer the phone when it rings using your mac, just gotta find the tweak to the address book. when i do ill post it here! hope that helps

Why don't you want to upgrade to 10.2.6 or 10.2.8? the upgrade from 10.2.1 is a no charge upgrade. Just use software update or better yet go to the downloads page and get the standalone combined updater.

Panther is not all that it is cracked up to be. Unless you *really* need some specific capability in Panther (such as WPA support in Airport/Wi-Fi) you would probably be better off skipping Panther and waiting until about 10.4.2 is out.

Does anyone have experience with a SE T616 and i Sync?

I recently got one and have not been very impressed. It does not seem to be well integrated with Address Book as it will not sync email addresses or street address and is rather quirky.

iSync provides very few options for syncing which results in undesired complications on occasions due to corruptions that make their way into the phone and iSync wants to move them onto the Mac as "new data".

Has anyone tried the Nokia 6820?

I also have a 12" powerbook!
it's awesome, and one of the reasons for converting from Windows to Apple was the fact that the powerbook had bluetooth built in

I know it sounds lame, but I went for the jump and by golly, I LOVE IT
windows user no more.. (only sometimes when I'm forced to use it)

talking about Apple, I was thinking of getting Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio, does anyone have any experience with those 2 applications?

Depending on what you want to do, you may find that FinalCut Express and iDVD 4.0 (part of iLife '04) do what you want. You can get very professional results with both. And these two will save you a lot of money compared with their bigger brothers.

What a difference it makes too.

So, I'm now using the latest iSync but like an earlier poster, am not happy with how it syncs to my t610 although it's fine with my Palm. I guess the t610 issue is more down to the fact the calenadar on the phone is fairly limited although I do like the support for extended information in the phone book.

Do you know what the BIG difference is between FinalCut Express and Final Cut Pro?

What are the limitations with FinalCut Express?
hey Jools, what made you decide to use FCP and DVDSP?
those are quite expensive for just home use....
