@ganguly100

First of all, the tests mobileburn does are hardly classified as sientific (hi ma, how is the call quality ?). Second, its not difficult to find a magazine or people that will claim the oposite. So what make mobileburns testimony better than others ?

Your claim only proves you have had bad experience with SE and that you don't read any other mobile magazine beside mobileburn. I'm not saying Mobileburn is a bad magazine or that they are liers. Just that the tests they (and other magazines) do are not that sientific.

There is a mixed bag when it comes to reception quality. Some claims their Nokia performes better than SE where they live. Others claim the optosit. At the end, you will not know for sure until you test the phone your self where you live.

When it comes to batteries, the method of measuring has probably not change since the day a phone was a phone and nothing more and hence does not make sense anymore (but manufacturers have for some reason not change method). To get a fair comparison all manufacturers should measure in same way, which is not true either. Beside, battery manufacturing is not an accurate process. The variance in performance between batteries of same capacity can vary alot (one 700 mAh battery can perfom much better than another). Also environmental influence such as air temerature and moisture, signal strenght etc. may also affect the performance.

But generally I agree, specified battery time is ridiculous. Whether SE is worse than others I don't know. Have not owned that many to tell.

Your post I quoted did not sound like an opposing view. But rather as "if you don't have same opinion as me you are a ****". Who are those individual who likes to make baseless character attack. I have failed to see them in this thread or perhaps we just percieve peoples expression differently.

from your response, I understand why you can't see the poster who started this tirade by using certain "communist" labelling. I dont blame you tho. It is very hard to see the outside when one is in the same enclosure.

Is one manufacturers claims on battery life really any more exaggerated than anothers? Does the battery technology they use vary that wildly? C'mon. Doesn't battery life also depend on usage and screen size?

Most manufacturers make exagerrated claim. It depends on the magnitude. If you check more recent phones, most manufacturers has tempered this exagerrated claim. Unfortunately, SE is not one of them.

E.g. K750 is quoted as up to 9hrs talktime and 12 days standby. Even under the most ideal real world (not lab) condition, it would be next to impossible to achieve this.

I think this is not good for SE in the long run to make this type of ridiculous claim. Some buyers would associate long battery life as "high-tech". So think of unhappiness when they later found out it can last only 1/3 of what is claimed. Subsequently, these buyers would also start to question the validity of rest of the "advanced" functions in the phone.

Wildly exagerrated claim that is much better than the competitors is a good tactic to "trick" unknowing buyers for the first time. It is definitely not good if you want return customers in the future. Can this be ONE of the factor that SE can't seems to increase its market share?

ONE QUESTION>>>>> DID ANYONE OWN A PHONE THAT PROVIDE THE PROMISED STANDBY TIME?

Anyone really test it? DO you know what or how did all those spec come or release by manufactuer?

I see no point to argue over this battery time.

Why, we all are living in different country and using different operator. why everytime you all facing network proper or battery standby issue...you start blaming your nokia, your motorola, your SE.

Why can't you blame your operator...why cant you blame the temperature and climate of your country....why everything must blame phone manufacturer.

This problem didn't only happen to phone...it apply to almost all electronics device using dry cell or rechargerable battery.

Also do take note tht Lithium polymer battery will lost its charge faster when you are at extreme weather (either hot or cold).

I didnt have a exact test but 2yrs ago when I am using T39 which come with stand by time indicator, this happen.

When I left malaysia...stand by time show 320hrs.
When I reach thailand for transit....stand by time shot 160hrs
When I reach finland (no charge or usage in between)...standby time become 400hrs.

Its october with Malaysia and thailand having temperature of 32deg C to 34deg C ...finland is 5deg C to 0deg C

Malaysia I am using Maxis...Thailand is roaming on one of their operator....finland I use Telia and Sonera (could be wrong info here)

How can you all explain when I go to different country, the standby time indicate differently? It suppose to drop to less than 160hrs but why it become 400hrs in Finland.

You can say its the phone fault but to my suprise, I never have the chance to use my T39 for 5days without a single charge in Malaysia...this only happen in finland and Holland.

When I use T610 on one of my trip to China, Taiwan and HK....same thing happen.

For those who is using T39 and travelling frequently, you can test how your phone perform under different roaming partner.

You will notice the standby is different....because quality of the operator at each country isn't the same.

Quite surprised really.I'd of thought they would rank 3/4th.I think the problem roots to the fact that they only manufacture high price quality symbians(900/10),and budget priced tat like the k500,700,t range, which use cheap electro-mechanical components.Only the s7,p9 series and v800 seem decent.I can't comment on the new releases, but let's see.
