@max_wedge, in theory you are right. Only if things were so simple...
To start with, SE had to give me 2 replacement phones (the last one a boxed new set) so my adventure did cost them somewhat.
I still believe that the P990, despite the obvious RAM problem, still has the best combination of features as far as smart phones go.
Having an incredibly successful P900 legacy behind it, most people mistakenly assumed that SE would have made the P990 even better, so perhaps most of the research that should have been done was skipped because of that.
I've been a P900 user for about 4 years now and it was everything SE had said it would be. I agree it was my fault for trusting SE that P990 would be the same, who would have thought that the phone would be restarting when you receive a call!
Still, my problem with SE is not about the technical issues with the P990, not even the fact that the price of the P990 has plummeted down unseen in competing brands, it's simply SE's attitude in handling this situation.
BTW, it's been almost 2 years since SE released P990 and they still don't have a decent PCSuite for it...

I think this statement only applies to diehard SE fans.
One thing for sure - it was incredibly expensive

and I dont think it sold "well" as compared to other smart. It sold yearly in the hundred of thousands instead of the millions like the XDA I/II or Treo

on a funny way, now a days i see more p900, p910 and p990 in seond hand mobile shops then before. but the sellers usually, cry, cos not much interest for those, even they bought it really cheap, hoping for some win.
also many m600 and some p1 in the shops here, but same story as above

Yes, I've started seeing P1's as second hand too. What is interesting is that the second hand prices of P990s are getting close to those of P910s. On the other hand, N95 is still going strong even as second hand.

Thats because SE phones depreciate in price quick where as most if not all S60 phones tend to hold their value.
P1 is like £240 now brand new but N93i is stil £350.

you are entitled to bash them by all means. But follow that up with action (get the phone replaced until you have a working one or money back) ie: make SE pay in the hip pocket where it really counts.
Myself I have given up being personally offended by any corporate's actions: they don't care. It's a one sided relationship and too agro causing to get het up about what they are or aren't doing right.
re: SE not caring, Nokia tried the same thing with the exploding battery fiasco until it was obvious consumers were being deterred from purchasing nokia handsets because of the fears of exploding batteries. Then lo and behold Nokia decided they'd give everyone a new battery. Those with the affected batch of batteries anyway - I got one myself for my N70
Is SE unethical? No I don't think so. Rude and frustrating, but not unethical. You can always get your money back if you just talk to the store where you bought your phone. If you couldn't get your money back (since it doesn't work as intended), THAT would be unethical.

N95 was released over a year after the P990. Also, N95 is still available in the form of N95 8GB, so the model is still current. Also some people will still see N95 as better than N95 8GB due to memory expandability which gives it residual demand. Whereas P990 is effectively superceded by Px series (P1, the coming P5 etc), so you have to expect it's price to tumble.
Wait til N96 is available, prices of 2nd hand N95's will drop sharply.
However it's true that Nokia are holding prices better than SE at the moment.

I'm totally disappointed with

's Lastest cellphones, why?
I'm a big fan of the

900i, and the Swivel design in general and i'm not satisfied with the

910i being it's natural successor because it's a Slider and 2MP Camera without the auto-focus (which is even worse then the 2 years old W900i) and it's soo overpriced for it's features. (And the rumors of a swivel that was canceled due to the market was one of the worst decision that

has made)
And that's an example of how

is becoming worse each day in my opinion.

The W910 isn't W900's successor. Not at all.
I think W980 is.

Are you sure about that? Their actual release dates should be pretty close. When I bought my P990 in the autumn of 2006, N95 and P990 were about the same price and both were relatively hard to get hold of.
