Not sure about smacking these days, i have two sets of kids with more than 20 years between them, the first two (now in there mid 20s) used to get smacked when i felt the situation required it.
My youngest who is heading towards his 4th birthday, has never been smacked and never will be, his behaviour is no worse than his elder brother and sister.

No its not illegal at all.

Personally I think national service should be re introduced. Kids today have no moral fibre or sense of community. It should be 18 months mandatory service after completing GCSEs and if the child does not wish to pursue higher education then that period is increased to 2 years.

LMAO, are you gonna be the one to get these "asbo" teenagers into national service then, because somehow i doubt it would work anymore....its hard enough getting some kids into school nowadays

Make it the law. Im sure some will resist at first but if you use strong enough force then the rest will come into line.

The next town over from here, Colchester, a garisson town, has an awful tale to tell.

All the 'paras' and squadies seem to pretty much run the place. They come back from the war, and sadly yes, they seem to be some sort of angry, violent machine.

My 19 year old cousin from Colchester and his friends were asked to leave a club FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY not so long ago, because the boucner said the para across the room was giving them threatening looks and it's easier to kick the innocent ones out than the para, because of the fuss he'd kick up and the violence that would ensue.

A friend of mine, also from Colchester, is in the specials, and one night he was arresting one of these paras who'd just knocked a guy completely unconcoius in the middle of the street. He was in the middle of saying his "you have the right to remain silent, anything you do say will be given in evidence..." bit while he was dragging him away and attempting to cuff him, and the guy was saying "yeah, yeah, i don't give a shit, did Iget him?". My friend said "Excuse me?" and the para said "that guy i hit, did I get him?".

It's sickening to think this is how todays youth is coming back from the war. To threaten, intimidate and bully, for literally NO REASON AT ALL other members of the public. My police friend said it's an ongoing problem and they just do it because they've come back from Iraq etc and they still want to fight something, anything.

And to all those who keep saying in this thread "I got a phone when I was X years old and I don't think I'm spoilt", bear this in mind, I doubt many people who are spoilt either realise it, or are going to say it outloud. So yes, you are.

We have simialr problems in Windsor with squadies however they are not all like that. I personally know people in the special services and none of them act like that. You get a few here and there but over her its a minority. And whenever they go to clubs or pubs they should be handing their army cards over to the barman.

TBH just because you don't think its right, why do you have to say everyone else who had/has a phone at a young age is spoilt, it may not be the case?
