Hmm, just had a weird discover, my battery showed about 38% battery yesterday when i got to bed.
The phone made the low-battery warning this morning showing only 5%.
Finished the charging just about one hour ago, and it had dropped from 100 to 94%?
Its been in just Standby mode this time. Only connected to 3g, thats all..

I'm going to assume that you've checked that all automatic internet tasks (ie. email retrieval, RSS feeds etc)& java programs are turned off so there isn't anything in the backround running&draining your battery.
When in standby try switching your phone signal to GSM only. The reason for this is that in most countries GSM coverage is better than 3G coverage which means that your phone doesn't have to keep reaching&locking onto the nearest/strongest 3G base station.
Then see if you still get that level of battery drain.

I have noticed after doing the update its the same firmware but with subtle improvements like the signal and the clock. Before the clock could not be enlarged now it can. Its a slight update of existing firmware as Rookwise said.

Do you mean that the signal reception has improved? or just the design of the signal bars has changed.. Please clarify sir

With the updated version of the original Elm firmware the signal is a lot better and there are other subtle changes including the the option to change the size of the standby clock in the display settings. I have however noticed the phone has slowed down slightly, bluetooth has become a little unstable and the Netfront browser hangs a lot.

I have noticed too that it's gone a touch slower why did they not do a full update
I guess one is due soon. I said the signal has improved slightly not the signal bars look
Also though I have never had any crashes or freezing with this phone which is good
