how many mac users here use phoneagent?

is this a nice product and does it really do what pc-suite does on the PC?

i was thinking to buy it but wanted to make sure it works well.

also, any reason why SE does not have a Mac version of the PC-Suite. surely, there are plenty of mac users out there.

@SFA

It is quite simple. SE does not think that it is worth the time or effort to design a Mac version of the PC Suite. Also, in my opinion, the PC Suite was and is a piece of bloatware that sometimes did or did not function well. If SE can finally get their act correct and fix the connectivity problem that they have, then iSync will be a winner for sure. Windoze users should be so lucky.

@sfaguy

I use PhoneAgent and registered it literally minutes after downloading it!

It really is a one-stop shop for everything you could want to do with a T610, T630, Z600 etc. I can't think of anything it can't do really. It's still the only way of making themes on a Mac (except manually). I use it regularly for backing up SMSs.

The developer is also very quick to respond to bugs and feature requests.

I think part of the reason SE don't make any Mac software is that the market is too small for them to invest in, plus they apparently have a very good working relationship with Apple, so it makes sense for them to 'assist' Apple when needed in getting support for SE phones built in to the OS.

To be honest after seeing some of the software for syncing etc. that Windows users have to put up with, I think us Mac users have it good with iSync.

I hate to think what kind of ugly monstrosity of a port SE would come up with! I doubt if it would be anything like as simple, elegant and functional as iSync.

JoolsG3,

Sounds like a nice product. Unfortunately, it MacMedia informs me it does not support P900.

Are there any programs out there for P900????

one other question... a friend of mine has T610 and he uses iSync for it. Does iSync work with P900??

sfaguy,

Yes. I have a P900 and a Z600 and the Z600 works perfectly. However the P900 has a few problems with iSync but you can get around them and get iSync to work.

go to:http://discussions.info.apple.com/.599cf152/364 to get an idea about iSync and the P900.

@JoolsG3,

I have seen the product that you pointed out to SFA and I do not think that is what he is looking for. It does not perform a phonebook or calendar sync which is what I think he is looking for. To date, I do not know of any applications other than iSync that will allow the synchronization between a Mac and the Symbian OS. If you will look at the links I provided, you will have a better understanding into this particular problem.

sapporobaby,

from what i have read so far, iSync seems to be the only way to go for Mac & P900.

however, people seem to have problem with the right FW vs. Mac OS version. a few people claim after they upgrade to R5Axx or R5Bxx, iSync can not discover the phone.

i only wish SE would come out with the Mac version of PC-Suite even though the Mac market, in my mind, is not big enough for them to justify it.

@sfaguy,

Actually the PC Suite is not needed if the reliability between iSync and P900 could be garanteed. For my usage of iSync, I get about 98% with the other 2% failing due to the BT module needing to be reset in the phone. All in all I would say that I get 100% reliability from iSync. if SE and Apple could get together and produce a common solution, the WIndoze guys would have mucho to be jealous of.

sapporobaby,

i am happy to learn you get it 98% of the time. unfortunately my stupid powerbook G4 does not come with BT. i wonder if i can justify buying the BT adaptor for US$28 or just use PC-Suite on my roommate's laptop for the sync when he is not out of town
