PIN is auto-generated by the BB connect software using the phone IMEI as seed

Here's the link to the guide for referrence purposes:

BB Install Guide

Pins are auto-generated as Tankt- mentioned. I also don't believe your PIN # will ever change either. It appears to be unique to your IMEI #. Thus, if there are more revisions of the BB connect software to come don't expect to get a new pin # once you install it.

In order to use BlakBerry service you must be registered to use their service through a 3rd party carrier. Remember that this is a 'service'. An account must be established in order to gain access to their services. Your service provider should have information on BB packages if they are authorized 3rd party vendors.

alright thanks. That is what I thought, but the blackberry set up guide thread made it seem like as long as my provider had blackberry functionality, then I could use it. I wish I had the money to use blackberry on my phone...

Why do you say the "set up guide thread made it seem like as long as my provider had blackberry functionality..." What is unclear about the following part of the guide??:

"This is an ‘unofficial’ reference guide to provision your p910x handset to work with BlackBerry push email service. There are some prerequisites that must be met.

Requirements:

Blackberry (Corporate) GPRS data package provisioned to your account.

SE BB Connect + SE BB Desktop Configuration

PC with P910x docking station."

If it sais you have to have a Blackberry GPRS data package provisioned to your account that is exactly what it means. I don't see how anyone can interpret that any differently. Especially after putting that under the "requirements" list.

In addition, it sounds like you purchased a handset that you didn't intend to maximize to its full potential and that $$ is a critical factor. It's understandable, but why then pay grey market prices for a phone that is sold outside your market area if service packages in your local market is a financial burden? That said, maybe you should consider just an ordinary BB handheld.

I'm in the U.S. and my company's corporate server uses GroupWise. What I have been told my my IT department is that yes, using Blackberry connect, Blackberry is now supporting the p910a. Unfortunately, however, it does not support GroupWise (Novell). Does anyone know when GroupWise will be supported? Is Groupwise a common enough system that they will even develop support for it?
