Programmer guy's explanation follows: What you guys observed indeed happens all the time. It's a conflict with the standard FC standby view, which is part of the standard Phone application. That comes to foreground in every minute, regardless of any application (for example FrontView) currently in the foreground. You can observe the same behavior with any flip closed application - there is a timeout and then the PhoneApp takes over. SE has programmed it this way, and FrontView needs to "play fair" with it, as it is the application that does all the phone functions. FrontView currently eliminates it right after it pops up. This is not nice but so far we could not prevent it coming up without hurting its essential functions. This behavior of the PhoneApp might be one reason for FrontView being the first and only third-party application that (at least) attempts to replace the original flip closed standfby view.

I love this latest beta, as most of the original issues have been fixed.
However, the SMS thing is still not completely resolved, (its fixed if FrontView isn't IN screensaver mode, but if it IS in screensaver mode and you attempt to read the message, you get the 1sec-to-read-message-then-kick-out-to-screensaver bug)...as already been described in this forum.
Another thing of interest is if you have the phone on the 12hr setting.. at any time between Midnight (12:00AM-12:59AM) to 1AM.. the screen saver displays the time as Zero hour. Example, its now 12:13AM, but FV clock screen saver show the time to be "0:13". Something to look into...
Take a look at here:

FrontView position wishlist:
The current position functionality in FrontView is fairly useless, but I assume that the developers have not really done anything here while they are sorting out the fundmentals.
Someone mentioned that they would like to see profile functionality added. As a satisfied user of Magic Profiles Pro, I think this has been done very well, and FrontView would have difficulty bettering it.
So, what I would like to see is the ability to not just name a position but to
a) give it a latitude/longitude,
OR
b) call up a map (a simple image eg. jpeg) and click on it to set the position.
I am aware that it is impossible accurately be positioned in the GSM network.
I don't see a problem with that, as your map(s) would be at the suburb/town level anyway, and the latitude/longitude or map click would be a guess anyway.
The next stage would be able to export and import/merge ids+position with other people using the same network. That way you could quickly build up a fairly wide coverage quickly. (Even better would be to get the locations of the towers from the provider, but I suspect that they would not do so.)
what do you think?

i guess the developers are seeking to market this app world wide so the thing about maps will be a problem for each city and / or location the mobile is used .
I have friends trying to do such similar location app but they are faced with a lot of problems, it is realy difficult to rely on the cell ids for location, the best way is to have a gps module and so on ....
@ the devlopers of front view, it is a great effort keep it going ....

flash62: my guess is that they are using gms signals for triangulation.....when you turn on your phone you have a number of different networks and signal levels......and they use these network/signal strengths to give you a possition.....but, since this kan differ from phone to phone and brand to brand and so on.....it is impossible to make a map.....this is why you need to name these your self......i have been thinking how to use this funktion??
a frined of mine came up with this idea, what if you are on a bar to bar round and you can name the different places so even if you are drunk and hav memory gaps you can look at you phone and know where you are..

.....or if you wake up and have a number of girls.....which one are you at...??
what do you use this for ??

Some ideas for next beta:
1) Shortcut list - When you use jog dial and access the shortcut list I would like to be able to scroll continuasly through the applications. That is, suppose that you scroll down and the shortcut list appears, highlighting the first application. If you want to scroll to the last application you need to scroll down all shortcuts. Why not being able to scroll to the last by scrolling upwards? Also when you reach the end of the shortcut list scrolling down once more should get you to the first application. (I hope you understand what I mean!)
2) Ability to display some of the icons. Currently you can only display all or non of the icons. What about if you wanted to display just one or two?
3) Ability to choose the size of the icons. Some users might feel that icons are currently the right size, but some of us feel they are just too small. Hence, why not an option to choose between two or three sizes?
4) Option as to whether seconds should be shown on the clock Currently, I notice that sometimes when seconds change there is a slight flickering of the screen. It really hard to explain what I mean, but its quite annoying!
Thanks
