Yes, I uninstalled the Gmail app because of that reason too. I haven't found a way to work around it, so I guess we'll have to wait for a proper S60 V5 version of the app from Google.

To disable the virtual keypad, go into Menu/Settings/Application Mgr/Installed applications and then find Gmail. Now press Options/Suite settings and you can change the 'On-screen keyboard' here, from two types of on-screen modes to nothing (preferable on GMail).
This is yet another example of why apps aren't so user friendly, although it is possible to set an app to turn this on/off automatically - but GMail is a Java app (and a very good one). Opera Mini 5 is another must-have, but I find it crashes a lot when I use it in landscape mode.

jmcomms: Thanks a lot. Main thing it works, I was afraid it wasn't possible at all.

@Bonovox
The problem is

Turkiye.
Nokia brings phones to Turkey faster.
Anyway, I'll be patient.

Turkey might not bring Satio to Turkey but I'm going to buy Rachael one way or another.

there's no sign of bringing Satio to DR soon. recently we've managed to see the W995 in Orange.
