Memory issues can cause problems on Series 60 (and the P990i) which can result in the media player exiting if you do other things that take up memory. Some of the newer Nseries devices have less available system memory, which seems a step backward.
The K800 can multitask quite well too, allowing you to switch between the browser, a Java application and the media player. You get a rather basic application list by pressing the shortcut button. The one advantage is that everything is near instantaneous (messaging, web, media player) and you don't have to wait nearly 8 seconds for the gallery application to load - as it does on our 3 branded N73!

You should stop commenting on something you've never used. Nokias can do that.

things have gotten a little better in terms of memory management with music on the s60 3rd edition front.

@Scottsboy,
Great post. Your step by step approach was and is right on the mark. What people sometimes fail to understand is that certain products are sold in certain markets based on the intelligence of the market, the lever of up take, the affordability level, and a host of demographics. Sure enough Nokia will sell well in many of the poorer markets as they sale very cheap and basic handsets that tend to be on the affordable side to a less mature or educated market. They simply would not appreciate the more sophisticated features that a phone like the K800i could offer. SE does not have that many bottom feeder handsets which excludes it from many markets and target segments. SE tends to go where the money is: affluent teens, or young adults, biz crowds that have a more sophisticated product sense and can appreciate the difference.
