One thing, I've noticed with the latest firmware particularly that the auto white balance takes a very long time to settle, much longer than the focus. I get better resultsif I partialy depress the camera button for at least a seccond or two after the phone beeps to say the focus has locked, befor taking the shot.

Hello Folks,
After seeing two firmwares come out and still no solution to this problem, I decided to just take the plunge. I called up SE this morning and told them about my problem and requested an RMA. If anyone has already done this please let me know if the results were positive. Ironically, the lady I was speaking to also had a P1i and I asked her about this. She said she hadn't noticed this problem on her phone. So I guess she either got a good one or hasn't looked carefully enough. In anycase, when I get the RMA paperwork, I'll send it in and see if it gets fixed when it comes back. If it does get fixed I'll be sure to tell you guys!.
EDIT: Just got the RMA paperwork. Apparently it takes 10 days to repair or replace the phone. We'll see how that goes!!!

Did you get your phone back from SE? Has the issue been fixed? Did you request RMA only for the camera defect or other issues as well? Cos if they fix yours, I have to send mine in. Beginning to hate SE here..... slowly...!!

Just updated my phone thru SEUS with the new fw. the R9J005... whatever.... version.
Camera issue isn't really fixed. I'm not sure if they tried to fix it or not. Prior to this I had a green tint issue to the right side. Now however, the green tint still exists, but the middle of the image seems to be darker than the rest of the image. This is evident in room lighting and when you focus on a plain white paper or wall. Ridiculous!! Apart from that, the camera UI has been changed a little, but nothing major.

Sorry, you sent yours where? And i assume all you did was ring o2 and complain about the green tint issue?

I just took the phone into the o2 shop said that it had a green tint and that it was a known hardware fault. I had also previously debranded the phone and update to the latest non 02 firmware. This was not an issue either.
