My 2nd o2 K850 (R1CA037 software) is just as poor - if not worse!
The first one hung/froze, the volume key didnt always work, and the cameras flash was useless taking black pics all the time! then the camera lense cover was always stuck.
This one's camera is no better, and it not hangs, with the keys lit up, which means it drains 100% battery over night, every night. Crap.
3rd one coming next week, but with slow software too, Im not sure why Im bothering getting rid of my k800!

None that I can see. None of mine have suffered with this, strangely enough.
@CruSifiXken
Have it replaced, or if that's not an option, send it for repair.
Replaced, with what argument?
I want to have solid arguments so they can't turn their back on me...

If the battery cover isn't enough of an argument, dust under the lens certainly is. Or if you don't think it's a "good enough" excuse, make something else up. Say it's crashing. At the end of the day, there are problems with your handset, so whatever you say is irrelevant.

Right, this is getting on my nerves, my dad just got the N95, and its an amazing phone, and i got the k850i, and its been a bit of a let down, my k850i's camera is s**t to be honest...
i was completely disgusted at the quality of the images when displayed via my PS3 in HD.
the flash is incredibly poor, and i cant believe sony ericsson brought out a poor phone.
i was so looking forward to this phone, it lacks so many of the required features though, STEREO SPEAKERS ARGHHHH SONY ERICSSON DONT LEARN, stupid idiots. the slow GUI, its almost as slow as the N95's... lol.
i love the dual memory card slot, WOW how amazing, the only thing good about the phone is the dual memory card slot!
the phones plastic is creaky, and i hate the fact that the stupid icons are all ORANGED because of the orange network, so im in a dilemma here people,
the question is simple...
should i get rid of my k850i for an N95?
please please please help me, because i have still have some little faith in my little poor performance k850i
*sighs*

If you have a creaky case, it must be an early build - this seems to have been resolved in the later builds. Have it replaced.
The software is poor, but the bugs will be resolved. Yes, SE shouldn't have released it as they did, but they did. There are bugs with the camera, so the N95 will be better, for now.
The N95 is a much more advanced phone in terms of features, so I don't believe it's fair to compare the two.

I think the N82 is going to be the fairer comparison, even though it's a smartphone, because of the form factor.
Sadly, from what I've seen so far, the N82 is probably the better choice. That's not to say a decent firmware update won't even things out a bit, or that SE won't be releasing/announcing some better 5-megapixel cameras early next year.

for anyone who has dark picture problem, just take ur back plastic film off and try again in a dark room. Thats what I did to solve da problem.
Now, my problem is that my K850i does not shoot 30fps in a normal mode. Mostly, it captures 14 to 15 frames per sec. Has anyone got the same situation? I replay the video clip using QuickTime 7 in a computer.

The film on the back can cause flash issues with the flash as it confuses the light sensor, but there is a firmware issue with R1CA029, which is resolved in R1CA037.
The video issue is a known one and will hopefully be sorted in the next firmware update.
