Thanks for the latest ideas/comments, they are all noted and those that are possible will be included.Quote:is there a way to toggle in & out of silent mode as we had it in normal displayThere are some options that the normal standby view offers but FrontView does not (one of these is the silent mode toggle). In such cases just press the 'Back' key to get to the normal view, set the option you want, then go back to FrontView. You can go back fast with the OK key if you assign FrontView as the middle application in Control panel / Application shortcuts / Flip closed.

Is there anyway to either hide the area you are in? Or get it to name the area for you based on a number system, i tend to find when i get in from work i endlessly have to tell it that i'm at home otherwise its just sits there proclaiming this area can be named, which i don't think looks too professional.

Maybe you could change the "This area can be named" to something like the country name with a star on each end like " * United Kingdom * " So that when the stars are visible you know you can name the area.

Just an idea though. And the SMS display bug is still there although i havent worked out what conditions it still occurs under.

Other than that keep up the good work!

Lisa, few notes for you:

1. Can you implement ability to change date format? I also want the year to be displayed. Also it would be nice to have an ability to change time format. It may be times when I do not want to have seconds displayed.
2. When screen is locked and call comes in I can see missed calls message. But when I press view, I shortly get to the call list and after that fronview kicks me back to clock screen saver. Can you fix this?
3. When screen lock is not enabled, screen only dims but frontview does not bring its clock screen saver. Can you change this. I do not want to enable autolock in this situation.
4. And one BIG BIG request for you. Can you implement some kind of ability to send, read, etc SMS and MMS from frontview? Because in standard way I can access only SMS in Inbox folder in FC mode but not the ones who were moved to custom folders. It pisses me off so much:( There are no such software with such an ability and it would be very nice to have this in frontview. Hope that you'll hear my requests:)

FrontView beta 4 version is released, download location is the usual. Main changes are:

- Application shortcuts improved, also implemented for P800.
- Date displays follow the setting in Control panel.
- To do display enhanced, speed increased.
- Battery indicator enabled on P910 and P800.
- Battery strength and duration calculations improved.
- Changed area recognition sensitivity to decrease redundant rename prompts.
- In Cleanup dialog added option to close all (including unmarked) programs just once.
- Custom background images fill the screen.
- System information dialogs are shown even when the respective indicator is off.
- Increased compatibility with other flip closed applications.
- FrontView suspended when viewing missed call.
- Eliminated conflict with flip open phone calls.
- Improved compatibility with incoming SMS notification.

For a more detailed change log please see the beta.txt file in the downloaded package.

FrontView is getting close to the final release. We still plan to add autostart option (but no other major new features), to increase compatibility, and fix remaining problems - please report them here or at support@cellphonesoft.com

Thanks!

Nice, but spotted a bug already. When pressing the menu key, and then "3" (to change an area name), the call list is displayed and FrontView is suspended. It seems that this is a mapping error, as the same result is achieved by pressing menu>6, marked call list.

Pleased with the battery indicator though, and hopefully this new beta will reduce the seriously adverse effects on battery life I have been experiencing.

EDIT: Oh dear - it's a bigger problem than I thought! You can't edit the area names at all, or even access the area name. If you try to do it in FO mode, the following is displayed:

Program Closed
Program: FrontView
Reason Code: E32USER-CBase
Reason number: 21

And in FC mode, as I said earlier, it brings up the call list.

This is on an Orange-branded P910i using R1A30, by the way.

Dave

Oops, the above are confirmed. Several flip open dialogs crash (Area, Note, Help). Easy fixes, let's see if anything else terrible thing turns out soon, and there will be a beta 5 by the evening.

I can confirm with the issues described above. The fatal error -
"Program Closed
Program: FrontView
Reason Code: E32USER-CBase
Reason number:21"

occurs in FO mode, when you:

1) tap the "Area" radio button;
2) Goto "Edit" -> select "Area";
3) Goto "Edit" -> select "Note" and
4) Goto "Edit" -> select "Help"

When you select the Area option in FC, it goes to messages (as already noted above), the Note and Help work fine.

These fatal bugs were noted on my P910i - Unbranded - Sim-lock free - Firmware R3A04

Not sure about any other conflicts as still being tested..

Hope this helps in your further development!

*Edit: I posted late - as already been acknowledged by Lisa. (I must type slow..)
