my two cents, all brand has its own advantage.... thats what makes the mobile market more interesting. some got these..some aint. its u, the customer who makes the difference of how the market will sway to....either brand A, brand B...or maybe brand C.
my three cents?....well, i always prefer Sony Ericsson on quality and Nokia on usefull menus.

To be honest, your points are pretty much the right ones...apart from menus. SE menus are much more user friendly that Nokias nowadays, particularly the S60 interface.

I am not saying K800 will be a flop when it does not have it. It is just that SE is behind in this area. Some consumers may decide against K800 because of this. Using a point-to-point comparison only, overall K800 is weaker than D900 and N73.

No. I see a decline in SE phone in terms of innovation as compared to others. SE will continue to make profit and grow but its phones are no longer have technological edge. This may mean nothing to some people but to those who clamour for high-tech gadget SE phones have dropped out.

Bit of correction. N73 has a 2.4inch compare to 2inch for K800.

Dominating in UK is not the same as dominating worldwide. Worldwide, I would bet phone like 6233 would sell several times more what K800 can manage. Even N73 can equal or exceed the volume of K800.

Of course there is also the fact that memory sticks can also be given away with a handset too, which arguably makes this point moot....
Bit of correction. N73 has a 2.4inch compare to 2inch for K800.
Many would see memory card having capacity 2x the size (currently) of ms and at less than half the price as a great advantage. Bundled memory is usually very small capacity.

I think you forget that most people don't look at a list of features and buy the phone with the biggest list.
Usually people are looking for a specific set of features that suits their choices and what they want to use the phone for. If other features exist they will ignore them initially and buy the phone with the features they want and that suits their idea of looks and ergonomics. Extra features not needed are only considered if the handsets they are looking at all suit their sense of aesethitics and ergonomics, because then they need to find a differentation to decide which phone they will get.
Very few people imho buy a phone because it can do "more" than another phone that they prefer the look of and has the features they want.
Phone buyers generally aren't as sophisticated as you give them credit for. Most average joe's STILL don't know the difference between a smartphone and a non-smartphone. If I had a dollar for every person I've heard refer to a K800, K750, W900 etc as a "smartphone" because it has multimedia functions I'd be a rich man.
This is the level of understanding most people have of phones - the phone they look at either has the features they want or it doesn't. Whether it is "better" on spec rarely comes in to it other than for the most demanding of buyers (people like you and I).

I've no doubt there are many people who buy a phone the way mib suggests, but I think it's the minority and not influential in the mass market.
His statements are truer of business use, but only in that business use is more demanding so more features are needed. In business usually the cheapest handset with the needed features is purchased, not the most featured phone, so I think my point still applies to business use as well.

samsung has style (appeal) nice screens, small formfactors none of these things surpass SE on the tech area.. from a tech point of view the only thing they've got going for them in fantastic video recording

i found the K790i the fastest in taking pics with quick setting at your fingertips
try doing that with the N93 or the buggie N73 lol

yeah, Nokia ergonomics are not a strong point - this is where SE have continued to kick arse (they have always had excellent ergonomics - it goes back to Ericsson days)
