Load of rubbish that is mate, got mine from CPW online, on o2 and it works fine, get 3G signal everywhere I have been so far. You could try and phone CPW e-sales and see if they are still doing the special offer I got.
Might even be able to do upgrades for existing o2 customers. Phone no is 08700870870

This is getting really annoying now, and I am definately thinking of defecting!

Also been on to the Carphone Warehouse, and told I can upgrade with them for just £20 more than what O2 I asking. So think I might pay them a visit and see what they can do.

Is there any drawbacks with going with CPW?

Guys just called O2 select and based on what I heard here about the change of date to 6 November ready to ask for my PAC code, I asked if the 23rd of October is still on and was told yes it is for select clients and furthermore I was told I can backorder it now which I did. GOD KNOWS WHAT IS GOING ON??? I will wait this week and see.

I've just rang O2 customer services, they told me it would cosst £250 to upgrade, regardless of what tariff I take out.
I'm on an old "legacy" tariff (leisure 500), and my contract expired a few months ago.
I asked that if I change tariff, will the price of the phone change, she said "it doesn't work like that".
They also said the handset is out 23/10/06.

I've had enough.

OK so O2 really don't know what's going on from one department to the next or even from one person to the next.

I just called the O2 Select number and was redirected to the normal number because my mobile number doesn't register as a Select customer. I went through to upgrades anyway and was told that the P990i would be released late this month but did not have a confirmed date.

I then went through to the accounts department to ask about Select customers and was told that generally to be a Select customer you have to spend £100/month and you get a dedicated account manager and possibly other perks. I then asked the woman I was talking to in accounts about a release date for the P990i and she told me that it was definitely being released on Monday and I could phone up and order it on Monday morning.

WFT???

I think I will ask for the PAC code anyway just incase as it tends to take a few days to come in the post!
Has anyone decided to give up on o2 online and go to CPW?

Oh, and the O2 store in Cambridge is giving out Nov 6th as the release date (but I'm kinda not surprised if the stores themselves do get them in a bit later. I found that the CPW store actually had a couple in stock but they wanted to chared me £210 for the upgrade rather than the £129 O2 have quoted me. I think I'll call on Monday morning and if I can't order it then I'll get my PAC and look elsewhere . . . their disorganisation is taking the piss really.

I am still being told 30 October so I will leave it at that for now.

I will of course try on Monday just to see, but I doubt it will be there!!!
