yep, agree. I hate to say it, but Nokia keypads are usually better than SE handsets - Nokia keypads are excellently design - a shame the rest of the ergonomics aren't as good.

All the features that K800 has, N73 and D900 also have. Not true the other way round. So a buyer prefering any feature will most probably find them in all the 3 phones. It is not like K800 has camera and the other dont. So what do you do? And there is nothing special about K800 look and pricing either.

But here I am not distinguishing smartphone vs non-smart. Even if u disregard "smartphone" in N73, out of the box spec of N73 is still ahead of K800. Same with D900. Even camera, which is a selling point of K800 lost out to N73 and D900 camera in daylight.

samsung has style (appeal) nice screens, small formfactors none of these things surpass SE on the tech area.. from a tech point of view the only thing they've got going for them in fantastic video recording
Yes I have used samsung product before. I dont think it is crap. K800 certainly lost to D900 in hardware spec (i.e. video, tv-out and small form factor). K800 also lost in terms of doc and pdf support. K800 only have the edge in UI.

I guess one factor that is not being raised regarding brand and phone comparison is the price. What you get for what you can pay for.
This might not be much of an issue in some countries (perhaps most of the western world) but it is in third world countries.
I was only able to buy a couple of weeks ago an 'aging' K750i. Although I must admit that I'm biased to SE (my first phone was an ericsson back in '93, it looked like a matchbox with a ballpoint pen cap sticking out), but that's because I find them less expensive than Nokia's with basically the same specs. Like I get more than what I pay for.
So I guess phone companies really do have to strike a balance between features and price.

What I said, was that if two phones have the features people want, they will choose the phone that looks best and has the best ergonomics. Since these are personal choices (there is no better or worse - it's up to the individual), they will bypass a phone with more features (that they don't need) for the phone that looks better has more style etc.
If someone thought the K800 was a hot looking phone, and it could do everything they want it to do, yet an N73 is ugly in their eyes, they will take the K800 regardless of what extra features the N73 has.
The person who buys a phone based on the fact that it has more features than any other phone, even if a nicer looking phone is available with only what they need, is rare. Most people will take the nicer looking phone.
I believe that's true of the average consumer. I don't for a second think you would do that. I know you probably care little what the phone looks like or where the buttons are, and prefer as fully spec'd a phones as possible. If two phones had identical features, then and only then do I expect you would consider the phone's looks and ergonomics to decide which one you want. In terms of arguments about marketshare and SE growth however, it doesn't matter what power users like yourself want - it's the mass market that dictates the direction SE will go.
On a pure technical assessment of the two phones yes you are probably right (however I still prefer K800 over N73 - and I consider myself a power user too), but absolute technical value is the LAST thing that most buyers think about.
I made the point about the average consumer not knowing dif between smart and non-smart just to demonstrate how unsophisticated consumers are. I realise the N73 stacks up well even without considering smartphone aspect.
But if you don't need smartphone, then K800 is a better camera phone imho, and more useable (in it's non-smart aspects example menu navigation) than the N73.
If everyone bought the phone with the most specs, we'd all have the same phone.

Like Max, I consider myself a power user. I find the UI on the Nokia Series 60 phones annoying. I had a Nokia 9300i, and this was an okay phone, however I find the UI of UIQ much more elegant than Nokia's Symbian renditions.
Your assumptions against SE tend to be indicative of a certain demographic. Where are you currently located?

No, because N73 is a smartphone, so there's no comparison. D900 and K800 are both Java based phones, thats why he compared them.
BTW, N73 has the same quality video as D900.

No, because N73 is a smartphone, so there's no comparison. D900 and K800 are both Java based phones, thats why he compared them.
BTW, N73 has the same quality video as D900.
the d900 has better video quality
lol so if it's smartphone the UI matters? nice double standard
