Hey Koto,

You are correct. It all comes down to user choice. I tried TS but decided that it was not for me. S60 was a better way to go for me.

@Koto,

You have made me realise something which is that you and many others are fixated on what a smart phone is and only your definition is what you judge all devices by which goes some way to explain your failure to grasp certain concepts as you expect all smart phones to be the same.

Not every one needs or wants to do the same things with their smart phones some don't need to create documents but like the ability to read them especially as attachments. Again some like to be able to receive their E-Mails but may not need to reply to them accept for occasionally so for them a choice of input methods are not that vital. Same with the calendar it may be good to have it with you but may need very little input just syncing to keep it up to date. They may also value Multi Media with greater priority so an excellent Web Browser and a better screen are just as important to them along with a great Music player and Video playback.

I will explain this now as simply as i can different devices even if both smart phones achieve different things better than each other although both may achieve the same things if need.

My main smart phone is my E61 and this is for all Data entry intensive tasks due to it's excellent full qwerty, although it does handle Music and Video and Web Browsing and VOIP.

Now my N95 is my Multi Media smart phone that can still also handle business apps but is better in the Video, Music and Web browsing due to the faster processor and HSDPA. It still also collects my E-Mails and keeps my calendar in Sync but i wouldn't want to enter all my appointments in it or even respond to lots of E-Mails it could do these things but my E61 does that stuff better.

So realising the above can we please once again accept that no one device is perfect for every one only each individual can decide which device is right for them and suits there need the best. In my case it is two devices rather than one but both are excellent at what they do.

Just on a closing note despite all the build quality problems i have seen noted on various forums my N95 has no wobbly slider no screen movement or gaps in the casing and is of great build quality. It does not feel cheap and of plastic at all the rubberised parts are really tactile and the whole thing is nice and compact and IMO an excellent size for the specs it packs. Once my memory card arrives i will start testing the camera and Video and it's Music and Video playback abilities and will report it as i find it.

Marc

I dont know Dogmann, are you actually reading my posts? Now, with most sincerity, I really, really dont understand what I said that made you feel I failed to grasp certain concepts or that I think that smartphone I prefer should be prefered by everyone, because my point was just the oposite.
It amazes me how we constantly misunderstand each other:)

I have just seen this.

@Dogmann
You have N95. Could you confirm that memory leak is present or it is not true? I thought full memory is regained after closing apps. Thanks.

I've cleaned up a little and given Esato a week off from a couple of regular antagonists that are causing threads to be locked

so please... do continue this discussion and hopefully now in a more mature manner. thanks

Just my 2cents.
I confirm Koto's opinion.
Even with some problems, could NOT imagine working on any other device than P990. (My history: P800 910 990). Don't imagine write email with normal keyboard. And have no touch screen for browsing and operating the phone. I work ALOT, and I almost don't use computer because of P990. It's enough to spend a week with heavy mailing and internet to understand that. So I accept some cons, having all the superb features. N95 is probably a very interesting proposition. Just not for my use.
Well, wealth of choice.

@Koto,

You misunderstood me i didnt accuse you of anything other then letting me understand better why some people see faults in some devices that others don't. I really was not having a dig at all and apologise if that is how it came across. Currently very heavy meds and pain are making it difficult to post well.

I only got my N95 back from being flashed at lunchtime and don't have my memory card yet so have only set up all my apps and settings not really started playing yet so to early to answer. But i should be starting a Blog of my N95 experience which will be no holds barred both good and bad. So far build quality and speed are excellent although i have noticed it's Ram is not as good as my N93 was and not close to my E61 either. As it is not replacing my E61 just taking over some of it's duties a lot will remain with the E61 and the info just synced to the N95 as lets face i am not going to start entering lots of Data on a N95 keyboard if i was going to use it as my only device i would get the SU-8W bluetooth keyboard. I am also not going to be using the GPS either as i believe my current set up is much better than the N95 could ever be.

@Dogmann
Thanks for the reply, at the end we do understand each other. Too bad you don't want to use gps because I am particularly interested in that feature and would gladly read from you how it is implemented. But anyway it would be interested to read your further comments.
About iphone, we all know that it lacks third party software but as I could see it uses google office for viewing and editing office files. At least something although I don't know how good it is in practice.

last night i got my hands on an N95, and being a sonyericsson user for the past few years, and not being biased, I can say that the build quality of the N95 is not bad at all...i liked how it looked and how it performed. compared to my fiance's n80 it was a totally different phone

as for bugs and quirks I did not get to test the functionality fully as I only had a couple hours time. as for my friend who owns the phone, she said that battery wasn't that long but it was enough to to last her the day on normal use (which isn't bad IMO).

Unfortunately, with my line of work I would require, or rather prefer, a phone with a touch screen.

all in all the n95 isn't a bad phone to have. in fact it is very well built and very nice looking. if it had a touchscreen chances are that will be the phone i'm using now lol....

....so it still is boiling down to p990 or p1i or w960 (?) or is there any other phone I should consider?

Iphone, loks nice but with not much software for it I can't use it...

also, any suggestions if I would need teminal and ssh access to my servers and stuff like those which phone would you be recommending??

thanks again
