It wasn't a lack of level of volume as to making your ears bleed it was to soft to be hard clearly and the quality wasn't there either.

Well that's certainly not the case with the K700, K610, K750, W800, K800, phones that I have owned personally. Don't judge by the W880, it's not the best example of music phones from SE.
Regarding the iphone, I don't give a shit about the lack of "eye candy", but the lack of track advance and volume buttons is a real disadvantage to me. I expect to be able to change volume or track on my phone by feel alone. This is not a quality issue true, but it's an important ergonomic necessity of a music device. If I have to take my phone off my belt and unlock it just to change volume or track, that would become a major pain in the arse.

@Nightblade
Well if your happy with it and it's terrific in your opinion you will enjoy but obviously your expectations are much lower than some of ours. As i pointed out earlier using A2DP is severely restricted due to a lack of bandwidth in it's current incarnation, but if you think a K810 and DS980 produces a better sound then a 5.5 Gen iPod with a set of Shure headphones sorry but you just don't know what you are talking about as probably haven't yet experienced a better sound than you are using.

Hm, probably. But, as I said, I'm completely satisfied with what I have.

no offence, but imo we should honour the thread starter and continue this iphone vs se vs nokia in the right place. it has really nothing to do with the questions of mizzle...

Funny how things can get totally off-topic.

Ehm, getting back on topic - well, somewhat getting back.
The sound level of the P990 with supplied earphones was really insufficient but I now have acceptable sound level using Sennheiser MM50 headphones.
Using BT stereo headphones is a different matter altogether. Unless you are in a very quiet room in the still of the night, the sound is way too low, in fact it's almost not possible to hear the words of a song in a noisy environment, especially outdoors. I've heard that the P1 has the same low volume problem with A2DP.
A flagship smart phone should have had a much better music player with more features. As far as music quality is concerned, I've found that 160 kbps gives optimum results.
On a related subject, the RDS function of the P990 is a joke, it just doesn't work. Even the K750 has a working RDS but SE was not able to implement this on P990, SE support openly admitted that they did actually try to correct this but were unable to do so on Symbian devices. So whose fault is it; SE, UIQ or Symbian? I'm inclined to think it was SE who flunked.

Imagine how I felt when I went to show off my brand new hot p990i to my friend then he shows me that his w810i comes with far better headphones than what came in the box for mines.
On top of that they just refuse to make their top end phones quad band which for petes sake is as mundane as a blue sky.
They don't get it.

The HPM range of headphones is reserved for the Walkmen models - if you want this accessory in non-walkmen models you have to buy it separately.
I can't really fault SE here - it's part of the differentation of the Walkmen models. I bought a HPM-70 for my K750 and I've never looked back. When I bought my K800, it was no disadvantage that the supplied headset was bog standard - because I had my own Walkman style headset already!
Basically anyone with a non walkman phone should do themselves a favour and buy a HPM-70 (or whatever the latest model is). You won't look back.

So after all this anger and frustration, why not jump ship to nokia? If you want SE to learn a lesson, dont give them any more money! Simple.
