No, I said that N73 is a smartphone, which is obviously better than not being one, so no tv out and inferior video isnt that big a drawback.
But K800 and D900 are not smartphones, and D900 has better stuff to offer.

smartphone or not it's just a UI...
so from a hardware perspective the n73 is just as crappy as the k800i when comparing to the all mighty d900

There is nothing else it can do that a non-smartphone can't. And indeed, with K750, and even better the K800 etc with a multi-tasking Java VM, the difference becomes even less.
K800 can install apps (JAVA platform is very mature now, has access to most phone hardware)
K800 can multitask apps
K800 can multitask hardware dependant functions like music/gprs/camera (actually I'm assuming that, since the K750 can do so)
K800 has expandable memory, qvga screen, full internet, email, full multimedia capabilities, and on and on, features traditionally in the league of the smartphone.
So where's the superiority of a smartphone? Seriously, the way things are going all phones will be smart before long, the question will only be how smart?

Agree, but still more useful than previous. But unless you have patched firmware to remove the java prompts it's pretty suckful. That's basically a midlet signing issue, it's an industry-wide problem and not exclusive to SE.
I'm happy to stick with my K750 for the time being. It's patched to the eyeballs with all sorts of goodies SE never even contemplated providing. Disabling of Java prompts, and full flightmode aka K800 being two of the best.

SE rocks. I've my W800 for 6 months and NO problems with it. In the beggining i runned the formware R1AA008, but now upgraded it to R1BC002 and it is still great. Depending on that some people say that have problems with the joystick, mine works fine with a little care for it such as cleaning and pressing softly (not very strong). Sound quality is AWESOME. Everything I want for a phone I see in any newer SE.

Previously, developers weren't given access to many things AT ALL. SE were one of the first (hence my comment about how much developers like them). You'll see that the new Nokia and Motorola handsets also do the same, along with others.
Personally, I'd like a 'don't ask me ever' option but I can sort of understand why this might be a bad idea!

Where I work there is about 300 people. Most of them are very well educated and well off.
They buy phones because it has the right look. or some one else has it. They make their judgment based on - Brand, Style, size, bluetooth, camera, can send and receive picture text and nothing else. they do not care about any specs such as os version, memory size. They don't cares if the phone has a card slot, it can do push email or not, they don't care if it multi tasks or not. they don't care if it is 3G or EDGE (most of them don't even know what it is), and they do not even know if their phone has media player function because they prefer to use their ipods.
if they wanted a "smartphone" they will buy a Palm Treo or imate.
Try and ask one of them which is better?

how many non smart phones have you seen that has:
-divx player
-winrar archiver
-word, excel editor and pdf viewer
-touchscreen
-the ability to change shortcuts and menus
-the ability to close, manage open applications
-applications manager, calendar programs,
-gps
well, how many?
