Good point. People who are frustrated should just get on with it.

SE still make good phones. They may need some more effort put into smartphones, but I'm VERY happy with my K800. The W910 is also a pretty nice phone and many people managed to get a good K850 without any bugs. W880, W850, K550 etc etc nothing wrong with these phones. Most P1 owners are happy with their purchase. Should people who own those phones penalise SE when they haven't actually anything to complain about?

If we are all supposed to throw up our hands and ditch SE because OTHER people are having problems, forget it.

Sorry but I don't believe in this idea that SE are being "unethical" simply because they screwed up a phone release. Those people who have had issues with P990, return the freaking thing and by all means go to some other brand. But don't turn it into a moral crusade.

It's about economics, moses didn't come down from the mountain and declare the 11th commandment, "thou shalt not screw up phone releases"...

Makbil I don't have any objection whatsoever to YOU complaining to your hearts content. Just don't expect me to complain just because YOU had a bad experience That's all I'm saying. I just don't accept that SE are any worse than any other OEM. They all have their moments.

Especially when people make comparisons to Nokia it really gets my goat, because they are no better. I have an N70 that crashes frequently (has the latest firmware btw), battery dies after only one day even when not used (every other phone I've owned can be left in a draw for months and will still have almost as much battery power as when it was first put in the draw), can't run more than a couple of apps at a time and are Nokia still releasing firmware for the thing? No. Have they fixed the batteries? No. Infact they sent me a new battery under the exploding battery program, and it's no better than the old one. It cannot maintain it's charge for more than a couple of days at most even if it's not actually turned on.

It's not you complaining that I object to. It's the comparisons to Nokia as being somehow more "caring" than SE, and the claims that SE are unethical that I object to. If you never said those things then my arguments aren't directed at you.

SE are a faceless corporate entity no different from all the rest. I honestly don't understand why anyone would expect them to be somehow different. Why did anyone have an expectation that SE would be more morally virtuous than any other company? I don't get it.

The P990 was a dogs breakfast, but it's an old phone and the rest of the world has moved on. If you wish to continue feeling heartache over the issue that's your choice, but personally I will not ever be convinced that I should adopt the mantra of disgust with SE.

If you were arguing about the environment, world peace, homelessness etc, I'd be right there with you. But the fact that SE hid their head in the sand over the P990 does just not rate as Protest material to me. Sorry but that's my opinion and I am entitled just as you are to express that in this thread (which is about SE and their response to our questions)

I'm not defending SE for their problems. But the fact is their problems affect a relatively small percentage of their customer base, so do you really expect them to keep throwing resources at P990, for such a small user base?

It's just economics, not ethics. That's what I'm arguing about.

actually, I think discussing SE customer service (or lack of) is well related to the thread. I'm quite happy for people to bash SE, as long as they don't object to me reminding them that ALL phone manufacturers are faceless entities who only care about their customer's when it affects the bottom line.

I think the questions are fair questions to ask SE, but I don't think we can expect any answer but standard marketing hyperbole.

That goes without saying. There are a few lucky ones who have been spared the aggravation experienced by the majority of users, I just feel happy for them. The fact is, the last P990 I have is very stable and problem free. But to get there I had to endure months of abuse from SE, something SE did not have to do if they had adopted a different attitude. Some months ago I calculated that my P990 was about 10 % unavailable due to fw updates or being left in the service center. That kind of timing is unacceptable for a flagship device which cost me over $ 1000 when I bought it. Adding to this the fact that P990 still does not have some of the features promised in the white paper and fw development has stopped after one year with still bugs remaining, just doesn't allow me to have much leniency for SE.
Apparently not all companies are quite the same, Nokia has released a major fw update which introduced demand paging to handle the memory problem of the N95. I wonder why they didn't just say "Go get N95 8GB, we fixed the RAM issue there" - after all this is exactly what SE did as they suggested those who complain should go get the P1 and shut up!
