My advice would be do. Installing a theme onto the memory card on past S60 handsets has always caused issues regarding overall speed, handset reliability etc..

Themes are the only apps id ever install to a S60 phone's memory.

The argument for using the card is so you can remove the card if the phone crashes because of the theme and can't restart. However, once you know the theme works properly I'd be removing it and reinstalling on the phone memory for speed.

To be honest, with the current firmware, I'd not be risking any themes!!

Thats on your phone though, im using several themes on my Satio which are meant for Nokia phones and they're working without any problems. Have been since day one. Remember just because you have such issues does not mean we all do !

I didn't say I had problems with themes, but better safe than sorry - especially when you can mess up the phone by switching from SE's standby app.

And the advice on themes goes for ANY Symbian phone, including UIQ. It's been a problem for years. A minor one, but a problem nonetheless. The same goes for changing fonts or other things if you don't know exactly what you're doing.

But if you do that you would never get the phone exactly how you would want it, not to mention getting bored of the same theme.

It will be and will remain.

Only because they arent selling it does not mean they wont keep interest in it. The Satio is the only decent 12mp cameraphone around at the moment so to them its a big sales driver. Even though its not on sale yet, they still keep the dummy units on display and instore signage to keep interest. As far as CPW is concerned the Satio aint dead, just gone AWOL temporarily.

It's just a precautionary measures. As a former 5800 user, I never install anything into the phone memory unless it was meant to be installed there. And on early days of 5800, some users really had bricked their phone by merely installing a theme in the phone memory. And by doing so. I've considered it like a "firewall" for my device.
