I just meant the vivaz 2 which has almost the same specs as arc and probably gonna be cheaper. As for the optimus 2x, the tegra 2 isn't to blame for bad software optimization. Thats LGs fault.

Plus 2.4 is said to bring the dual core apps to single core or something like that. Still a flip phone would be a fail and late dual core won't be a big success.

Many on this board seem to crave dual-core processors in an SE phone. But take a look at Engadget's review of the LG 2x, seems the dual-core isn't helping with the UI at all. Buggy software too that's eating RAM. So I think it's too simple-minded to just look at the processor spec, it's the overall user experience that counts. If SE can execute with the Arc (i.e. availability, price, SW quality, support) then I think they'll have a winner.

The thing is that people want dualcore because it's possible. Not because they need it. That, unfortunatly, is how the world works.

and the 'advantage' had of releasing a 2.3 phone is slowly falling apart as 2.4 is now in the works

late as always miss the boat. like i've been saying all along these phones from should've been released last year or absolute latest this year jan/feb. think about about it, even the nexus s is at least on par if not superior to the arc as it is now.

how can xperia arc be behind when 2.4 isn't even released yet?
should SE travel to the future to get the 2.4 source code?

I’ve seen articles around higher numbers than 2.3 being seen in the display of Xperia arc phones – As I have been informed that is due to a misconfiguration in some samples and nothing to get too excited about really, sorry.

From the product blog.

The key points: Sony Ericsson XPERIA Neo has 4 inch screen and 7 new phones will be released in the first half of this year...

I don't believe that Neo has a screen larger than 3,7-3,8 inches (from the comparison of the screens between Neo and Galaxy S I have measured that the diagonal of the screen is 3,7 inches). Furthermore 7 new phones ? From what we already know on Sunday we will be seeing Sony Erisccson XPERIA Arc, Play, Neo and probably a new Mini and Mini Pro. That makes us 5 new phones. As for a "real" flagship phone I don't think that Sony Ericsson will announce anything more high end than Arc as it will be a mistake to have many new phones at the same time competing each other in sales. My prediction is that when the new phones will be available in 2 months time we will have the first leaks of the new Sony Ericsson flagship that will have a dual core processor and will be available in Q3, probably mid July.

my point being arc will be released at the earliest april, which is when 2.4 is rumoured to be debut in a new phone. and BTW 2.3 has been out for a long while now, are you forgetting the nexus s? i know no other manufacturer is on it apart from hardcore google based phones but that is precisely my point, if wanted to use the 2.3 version as an advantage they should be releasing it latest jan/feb so it actually is something unique. by april, 2.4 would've been the advantage not 2.3.

@zub arc will be out before 2.4 is released and the only advantage 2.4 will have over 2.3 is support for dual-core apps on single core platforms, it'll still be gingerbread, and it's only rumoured to be released April earliest. I really don't know think you can say that arc's OS is going to be out of date by the time it's released. Other manufacturer's latest phones will be out around the same and only running 2.2, how far behind does that make them?

RE:DUO is dual-core?
I thought we already saw a few leaks of duo? it looked like a small Xperia phone, quite bland and there was a 'pro' version with a keyboard.

That is true, but all I'm saying is if arc gets released and 2.4 is out or about to come out, it'll lose its edge on the whole 2.3 business. Just imo ofcourse .
